📱 RESPONSIBLE USE OF MOBILE PHONES IN SCHOOL

DepEd Order No. 006, s. 2026 provides guidance on the regulated use of mobile phones and other portable electronic devices during instructional periods. In DepEd-Butuan City, we remind our schools that school heads and teachers are empowered to regulate the use of mobile phones, particularly during class, to minimize distractions and promote meaningful teaching and learning.

📌 During instructional periods, mobile phones may be used only:
✅ WHEN AUTHORIZED for legitimate educational purposes; or
🚨 when warranted by an EMERGENCY or other meritorious circumstances.

Schools may adopt appropriate strategies such as cellphone baskets/phone parking stations, the keep-it-in-the-bag rule, class technology agreements, teacher-authorized educational use, designated phone breaks, and clear emergency communication protocols.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents and guardians are our partners. The responsible use of mobile phones does not end at the school gate. Let us REINFORCE AT HOME the importance of following classroom technology agreements, limiting non-instructional use, and helping our children develop self-discipline and responsible digital citizenship.
