The Department of Biology of Caraga State University participated in the ๐ญ๐๐ ๐ฃ๐ต๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐น๐ฒ๐ผ๐ฝ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ, organized by the Philippine Coleopterists Society Inc. (PCSI). Held on December 6โ7, 2025, at the University of the Immaculate Conception in Davao City, and hosted by Davao Oriental State University, the event brought together researchers, conservation practitioners, and students to advance beetle systematics, biodiversity studies, and conservation initiatives in the Philippines.
The conference featured an outstanding lineup of plenary speakers, including ๐๐ฟ. ๐ ๐ถ๐น๐๐ผ๐ป ๐ก๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐. ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ, President and co-founder of PCSI; ๐๐ฟ. ๐ฆ๐ถ๐ด๐๐ฎ๐น๐ฑ ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ป of the National Museum of Denmark; ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐น ๐. ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฒ of the Philippine National Museum of Natural History; ๐๐ฟ. ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ต ๐ฉ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐๐ฎ, a Philippine Odonatologist; ๐๐ฟ. ๐๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ป ๐. ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐บ๐ผ๐ of the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity; ๐๐ฟ. ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ผ๐ป ๐. ๐๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ปฬ๐ฒ๐ of the Philippine Eagle Foundation; and ๐ ๐ฟ. ๐๐ต๐ผ๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐น ๐ฃ. ๐ฉ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ด๐ฎ๐, PhD candidate from the Czech University of Life Sciences. Their lectures highlighted current directions in entomology, ecology, museology, and conservation science.
CSU was represented by six 4th-year BS Biology students, accompanied by ๐๐ฟ. ๐๐ฎ๐ป ๐ก๐ถ๐ฒ๐น ๐. ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐น๐ฎ ๐๐ฟ๐๐, Head of the Department of Biology, Project Leader, and thesis adviser of all six presenters. The following thesis studies were presented:

A major highlight for CSU was the achievement of ๐๐ถ๐บ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐น๐ ๐๐ผ๐ ๐ฃ. ๐ ๐ผ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด, who won ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฃ๐น๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ in the ๐ฃ๐ผ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, receiving โฑ2,000, a token, and a certificate.
These research outputs form part of the continuing collaboration between Caraga State University and the Hokkaido University Museum in Japan, supported by the Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF). This partnership strengthens regional biodiversity research, promotes international academic exchange, and provides robust training opportunities for CSUโs young researchers.
