CSU- CAA Horticulture and Agronomy Faculty participates 2nd International Conference on Science Uniting Social, Health, and Environment Aims for Innovation and Networking ( iSUSTAIN 2026 )

CSU- CAA Horticulture and Agronomy Faculty headed by Dr. Crishelo M. Cabillo joined 2nd iSUSTAIN as research presenters. The said international conference embraced a theme “Closing the Loop for Community Resilience: Transdisciplinary Pathways to a Circular, Equitable, and Sustainable Future” at University of Eastern Philippines, University Town, Northern Samar, on 2026 June 15th to 17th. Other participants were Ms. Leonie Love Harnaiz, Ms. Hazel A. Repoylo, Mr. Aljun Allunam, Mr. Edmar Baluyot and Mr. Bryan Palcon
The said research conference provided relevant platforms for exchanging advanced research undertakings and their practical applications in environmental monitoring and sustainable agriculture. It further served as a venue to explore potential areas for sustained academic and research collaborations among state universities and research institutions.
On the best note, Utilization of Formulated Indigenous Microorganisms (IMO6) in Improving Soil Nutrients in Visayas State University (VSU) Condition presented by Mr. Palcon and Aljon Allunam, and Molecular Detection of banana bunchy top virus in Abaca ( Musa textilis, Nee) Plantations in Caraga Region, Philippines using sensitive tools by Ms. Repoylo garnered BEST PAPER AWARD for Cluster G: Agriculture and Sustainable Communities. This implies that CSU faculty members are capable to competing in international conferences.

CAA Undergoes COE Onsite Visit and Evaluation

The Balanghay, a symbolic icon of Caraga State University (CSU), represents the collective journey of a community navigating unpredictable waters together. This powerful metaphor was at the heart of the welcome message delivered by CSU University President, Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil, during the Onsite Visit and Evaluation for the Center of Excellence (COE) application of the College of Agriculture and Agri-Industries (CAA) for its Crop Protection and Soil Science programs, held last June 15–17, 2026.

A Center of Excellence (COE) designation is the highest accolade CHED bestows upon academic programs showcasing unrivaled leadership. This application underscores the college's dedication to CSU's core vision: driving innovation, research, extension, and instruction with pride, confidence, and humility.

Following weeks of immense preparation and tireless nights, the college successfully presented all the required documentation for this prestigious accreditation. During the exit conference, CHED Technical Evaluator Dr. Rosana Mula emphasized that the evaluation process relies heavily on meticulous documentation and packaging, noting that thorough compilation is the crucial first step toward achieving Center of Excellence status.

Expressing deep gratitude, CAA Dean Dr. Elizabeth P. Parac thanked the technical evaluators and experts for their rigorous review. She highlighted that the visit was not just a pursuit of a title, but a valuable source of lessons learned and new insights that will ultimately help the college soar to even greater heights.

From 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟴 𝘁𝗼 𝟭𝟮, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, the College of Agriculture and Agri-Industries (CAA) of Caraga State University conducted the deployment of 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 (𝗕𝗦𝗔) students to various 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 (𝐇𝐓𝐄𝐬) as part of their 𝐎𝐧-𝐭𝐡𝐞-𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐎𝐉𝐓) program.

The deployment was facilitated by the 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 (𝐒𝐈𝐏) 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 and selected faculty members, who formally endorsed the students to their respective supervisors and ensured they were properly oriented to internship requirements, workplace expectations, safety protocols, and training activities.

Students were deployed across 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗔𝗴𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲, 𝗔𝗴𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗿, 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗿, 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘀 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹, and 𝗕𝘂𝗸𝗶𝗱𝗻𝗼𝗻, gaining practical exposure in agricultural production, research, extension, agribusiness, government services, livestock, fiber, and other agriculture-related fields.

The deployment was successfully completed, with all assigned students properly endorsed and accepted by their respective Host Training Establishments. This activity further strengthened the partnership between Caraga State University and its partner institutions while providing students with meaningful opportunities for experiential learning and professional development.
