𝗔𝗠𝗕𝗜𝗧 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆

On August 27, 2026, Caraga State University was a convergence point for bold ideas, emerging technologies, and entrepreneurial ambition as the Advancing and Mobilizing Breakthrough Innovations through Tech Transfer (AMBIT 2026) brought together innovators, researchers, students, and technology developers from across Mindanao and the Visayas.

At the heart of AMBIT 2026 was the Pitching Competition, where participants took the stage to present compelling solutions to real-world challenges and demonstrate the potential of their technologies for adoption, commercialization, and societal impact. Complementing the pitches were the Technology Poster Exhibit and Creative Commercial Video Competition, giving innovators diverse ways to showcase their work, communicate its value, and connect their technologies with the communities and industries they aim to serve.

Participating institutions included Mindanao State University (MSU) – Maguindanao, Mindanao State University at Naawan (MSU) - Naawan, Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), University of Mindanao (UM), University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), Caraga State University (CSU), and North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) – Lianga Campus, among others.

As AMBIT 2026 concluded, the following delegations were honored for their outstanding research innovations across three categories:

𝗜-𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗦 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗲𝘀

The 3rd International Conference on Climate Action, Resilience, and Environmental
Sustainability (I-CARES 2026) concluded with the awarding and recognition of the Best Paper and Best Presenter.

For Session 1: Nature, Policy and Planning for Sustainability, Mr. Elbert S. Moyon of Caraga State University received both the Best Paper and Best Presenter awards for his study, “Toward Climate-Resilient Farm-to-Market Road Planning: A Comprehensive Review and Multi-Criteria Decision Framework for Infrastructure Prioritization.”

Meanwhile, for Session 2: Innovation, Economy and Climate Action, Ms. Sonia Ibarra Buscano of the National University of Science and Technology, Sultanate of Oman, received both the Best Paper and Best Presenter awards for her study, “Chemical Characterization of Haloxylon salicornicum: Implications for Sustainable Agriculture in Oman.”

Caraga State University (CSU) extended its deepest gratitude to its esteemed national and regional partner agencies during the Fellowship, Awarding, and Cultural Night Program of the LIKHA Summit 2026 held at the HERO Learning Commons – Activity Loft on August 25, 2026.

Partner agencies were awarded plaques of appreciation for their trust, collaboration, and steadfast support to CSU, which have contributed immensely to the growth and sustainability of CSU’s RDIE initiatives.

𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗧 𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 | The 4th LIKHA Summit drew many participants and presenters from various subconferences and knowledge fields, each bringing studies and suggestions to contribute to the growing landscape of research and development. Experts and thought leaders were also invited to elevate the discussion on helping shape a sustainable and intelligent future.

The final day of LIKHA Summit 2026 capped off with the Advancing and Mobilizing Breakthrough Innovations through Tech Transfer (AMBIT 2026) event, organized by the Technology Transfer and Licensing Office (TTLO) and held at the HERO Learning Commons – Activity Loft.

AMBIT 2026 brought together innovators, researchers, technology developers, and students from state universities and colleges (SUCs) and higher education institutions (HEIs) across Visayas and Mindanao for a pitching competition, technology poster exhibits, and creative commercial videos.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 - 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗻

In partnership with the National Museum of the Philippines – Butuan, Day 3 of LIKHA Summit 2026 included a cultural heritage tour for guests and plenary speakers.

The tour consisted of (1) a discussion of the emergence of the land of Butuan city, (2) a guided tour at the “Ginikanan/Gigikanan” Gallery showcasing artifacts and the balangay boat, (3) the “Panapton sa Lumad: Mga Arte ug Kailhanan” Gallery which shows the local textiles and the rich weaving culture of the city, and (4) the Agusan Manobo Beads Ornament Tradition Demonstration and Workshop by the Culture Bearer, Bae Emeluz Espana, which participants had hands-on experience in making their own bead ornaments.

𝗕𝟮𝗖 | 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗲𝘀

The sessions of the Business to Consumer Conference (B2C) held at Kinaadman Hall featured students presenting their research studies under two tracks: 1) Tourism and Hospitality Management, and 2) Business and Accountancy. Their presentations highlighted different perspectives on business and consumer-related concerns, including resilience, sustainability, innovation, and current industry challenges.

Presenter cohorts shared their findings before a panel of faculty evaluators, fellow researchers, and conference participants, sparking interactive discussions and collaborative exchanges. Dr. Antonino F. Alejandro, from the Graduate Studies of International Tourism and Hospitality Management at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), joined the session as a distinguished guest and evaluator.

Standout presentations recognized during the session included Ms. Sugar Gift M. Maraunay of Caraga State University–Cabadbaran Campus, who earned recognition in the Professional Category for her study, “Bushido Principles: Driving Leadership Effectiveness among Indigenous Youth Leaders and Advocates.” Meanwhile, Mr. Giljay Balanay of Initao College, Misamis Oriental, was distinguished in the Student Category for his research entitled “Financial Literacy and Financial Resilience of First Valley Bank Clients.”

𝗚𝗲𝗼-𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗦 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗲𝘀

The 3rd Geo-Spatial Technologies for Earth Monitoring Symposium (Geo-STEMS 2026) officially opened on August 26, 2026, at the HERO Learning Commons Activity Loft, under the theme “Advancing Geospatial Technologies for Earth Monitoring and Analysis.”

Engr. Marc Lin F. Abonales, Associate Dean of the College of Engineering and Geosciences, welcomed participants, researchers, faculty, and students to explore innovative applications of spatial technology.

Emphasizing the strategic importance of spatial data, Vice President for Executive Operations Dr. Michelle V. Japitana highlighted that modern geospatial technology extends beyond basic cartography. "Geospatial isn't simply about producing maps," Dr. Japitana stressed, "It tells us why this is happening, what will happen next, and what we need to act."

Showcasing how geospatial technologies can be leveraged to address real-world challenges, a total of seven (7) presenters explored the transformative role of geospatial technologies, intelligent systems, and data-driven innovations in addressing pressing environmental and societal concerns before the attendees and panel of evaluators.

The title of “Best Paper Presentation” was awarded to Engr. Maria Belinda D. Campana, a faculty member of Caraga State University – Main Campus, for her study entitled “Combining Field-Survey and UAS-Derived Datasets in Determining River Elevation Model for Establishment of River-Based Water Level Warning: A Case Study in Magsaysay Bridge, Butuan City.” Her study emphasized the importance of accurate and up-to-date water monitoring by integrating field survey data with UAS-derived datasets to develop a high-resolution river elevation model, contributing to improved flood monitoring and mitigation in the area.

Through the exchange of research, innovations, and ideas, the symposium served as a platform for advancing geospatial knowledge, encouraging collaboration, and fostering innovative solutions toward a more sustainable and intelligent future.

𝗛𝘂𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗖𝗼𝗻 | 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗲𝘀

The Education strand of the 3rd HuESSCon brought together emerging and experienced researchers in a dynamic exchange of ideas centered on sustainable education, innovative pedagogies, digital transformation, and the evolving role of technology in teaching and learning.

A total of seven (7) research presentations were featured across two thematic tracks. Track A: Sustainable, Inclusive, and Future-Ready Education: Learners, Teachers, and Communities featured three studies exploring mathematics appreciation among Filipino college students, language and affective factors in multilingual English education, and the development of mathematics teachers’ multicultural skills through mentoring and upskilling.

Meanwhile, Track B: Intelligent Learning Future: AI, Digital Innovation, and Transformative Pedagogies featured four presentations highlighting simulator-enhanced learning, digital student performance monitoring and intervention, technology-supported strategies for addressing learner absenteeism, and the relationship between generative AI use and self-regulated learning among senior high school students.

Adding a remarkable dimension to the session was the participation of young researchers, including Grade 9 and Grade 12 presenters from Santiago National High School, demonstrating that meaningful engagement in research can begin even before higher education.

The presentations were evaluated by a three-member panel composed of two internal evaluators from the Caraga State University and one external evaluator from Agusan del Sur State University, providing valuable insights and constructive feedback to the researchers.

In Track A, Arnel S. Travero, who presented “Modeling Mathematics Appreciation among Filipino College Students – A Structural Equation Modelling,” was recognized as Best Presenter, while Maris T. Lasco, with the study “Investigation on the Mathematics Teacher’s Multicultural Skills Level through Mentoring and Upskilling Groups towards Navigating their Action-Response Extension Project,” received the Best Paper Award.

For Track B, Gretchen Mae B. Empuesto earned both the Best Presenter and Best Paper Awards for the study “A Digital Student Performance Monitoring and Simulation System for Student Intervention and Student Success.”

More than a venue for presenting research, the Education strand showcased how education continues to evolve through research, inclusivity, innovation, and technology. From strengthening teachers and learners to exploring AI and digital solutions, the seven presentations reflected a shared commitment to building an educational landscape that is sustainable, inclusive, responsive, and future-ready.
