Talahib (Saccharum spontaneum) is that tall wild grass you often see growing by fields and rivers. In the Caraga Region, people say it can hint at the weather. When Talahib starts showing its white, fluffy flowers, it usually means the dry season is near. If it stays green and leafy, the rains are still around.

For many farmers, this simple sign helps them figure out when to plant or harvest. So next time you wonder if the season’s about to change, just look around ..Talahib might already be telling you the answer!
