Following the advisory issued by the City Government of Butuan, classes at all levels will continue to be conducted online on August 17, 2026, Monday until further notice.

All face-to-face activities shall likewise remain suspended to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of everyone. Office transactions, however, shall continue from 8:00AM - 5:00PM per OP Memo No. 5 S. 2026.

Father Saturnino Urios University successfully conducted a two-day training-workshop on the Integration of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into Course Syllabi on August 6 and 13, 2026. The activity was spearheaded by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research in collaboration with the College of Teacher Education , College of Arts and Sciences , and the Office of Human Resource Management and Development (HRMD), with the participation of the university’s deans and program coordinators/chairs. The activity opened with a welcome message from Dr. Arlyn M. Floreta, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research, who underscored the importance of strengthening academic programs through purposeful SDG integration.

The first day featured Module 1, “Understanding SDGs in Higher Education,” with Dr. Mark Bon G. Basadre as the resource speaker, followed by Module 2, “SDG-Based Syllabus Analysis Using AI-Supported Review,” with Dr. Belinda P. Ato-Candelario as the resource speaker. Participants explored the 17 SDGs and their relevance to education, analyzed course syllabi for SDG alignment, applied constructive alignment principles, and utilized Notebook LM as an AI-supported academic analysis tool.

On August 13, Dr. Arlyn M. Floreta served as the resource speaker for Module 3, “Curriculum Mapping and Syllabus Enhancement for SDG Integration,” where participants mapped courses to relevant SDG targets and presented their revised syllabi for peer feedback. Dr. Maricris I. Abuan served as the resource speaker for the final module, “Strategies for Integrating the SDGs into the Syllabus,” highlighting Active Learning Strategies, Project-Based Learning with Design Thinking, Inquiry-Based Learning , Cross-Curricular Approaches, and Community Engagement. Participants worked toward intentionally aligning course outcomes, teaching-learning activities, and assessments with selected SDGs.

The training-workshop forms part of FSUU’s continuing commitment to internationalization and sustainable and inclusive development. Through collaborative syllabus analysis, curriculum mapping, and hands-on enhancement, the activity equipped academic leaders with practical strategies to advance SDG integration across their respective programs. The activity concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Lyndon T. Buque, Director of the Human Resource Management and Development Office, who emphasized the importance of translating the learning gained from the workshop into concrete improvements in academic practice.

Anchored on the theme, “Research and Innovation for Humanity: Hope for Sustainable Futures,” we proudly invite everyone to submit their abstracts (250-300 words) of scholarly works that place humanity at the center of inquiry and action.

The pursuit of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) continues to challenge institutions, governments, communities, and scholars to respond to the pressing realities of our time. As the world moves closer to the 2030 Agenda deadline, many SDG indicators remain unmet. In celebration of FSUU’s 125 years of institutional legacy and service, this Research Conference invites everyone to engage in meaningful conversations and co-create knowledge that will safeguard the future of generations to come.

For five consecutive Mondays, the College of Teacher Education hosted the university’s flag ceremony.More than a weekly tradition, each flag ceremony became an opportunity to come together as one community, uphold shared values, and begin each week with renewed commitment to the mission of forming individuals who lead with competence, character, and compassion.With gratitude to the administrators, faculty, and students whose participation contributed to the success of each Monday gathering, we look back on this successful hosting with pride and thanksgiving. 💙✨

Fidelity to the Mission, Radiating Hope. 🌟

An informative session on Converting Theses to Publishable Journal Articles was successfully conducted on July 15, 2026, at AVR 2, providing fourth-year students with a deeper understanding of the process of transforming their undergraduate theses into journal-ready manuscripts. Facilitated by the instructors of the College of Teacher Education, the activity aimed to equip graduating students with the knowledge and skills needed to transform their undergraduate theses into publishable journal articles. The Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research, Dr. Arlyn M. Floreta served as the resource speaker, providing valuable insights into the process of preparing manuscripts for publication and for Eduscriptio ,the journal of the College of Teacher Education.

Following the input session, student interns who had previously participated in a similar training conducted by the Biodiversity Informatics and Research Center shared their experiences in revising theses into journal articles, offering practical insights into the writing and publication process. Their presentations were followed by a writeshop, during which the fourth-year students began converting their own theses into journal-ready manuscripts with guidance from the College of Teacher Education instructors. As the culminating output of the activity, each group is required to submit a journal-ready article.

Everyone is enjoined to attend the mass of the Holy Spirit tomorrow at 9:00 am.
