ALTHEA DULALAS: Playing with Purpose, Living by Faith

A true volleyball enthusiast, Althea has been playing the sport since grade school. As an outgoing and sociable young athlete, volleyball has become more than just a game for her ... it has been a way of connecting with people, building friendships, and becoming part of a community, whether in school, among neighbors, in nearby barangays, or even through friends of friends.

She is relatively new to the TCA Varsity Girls Volleyball Team, but she has quickly earned the trust and confidence of her coach. She is coachable, hardworking, and willing to learn. She does her homework, takes corrections positively, and shows genuine interest in developing her skills—especially in setting, as she continues to emerge as a promising setter for the team.

But beyond volleyball, TCA Varsity Girls Volleyball is intentional about building character. Part of its team culture is learning the true values embodied in the Bible and becoming rooted and anchored in the love and knowledge of God. Althea firmly believes that everything she has received and enjoys today comes from the sovereign God, through His Son, Jesus Christ. She faithfully participates in every Bible study and fellowship, growing together with her teammates and coaches not only as athletes, but as young women of faith.

Her hard work is already opening new doors. She was recently recruited as one of three composite athletes from the Cluster 6 winning team that will compete in the Butuan City Division Meet on September 1–2, 2026.

A Dream in the Making

She has been training with the team for more than a year, beginning when she was in Grade 10. As an athletic scholar, she has shown remarkable seriousness, dedication, discipline, and commitment, learning to balance the demands of academics with the rigors of volleyball training.

Playing as an Open Spiker, she continues to work hard toward her dream of becoming a professional volleyball player someday. Her talent, work ethic, and attitude have made her a valuable asset to the TCA Girls Volleyball Varsity Team.

Today, together with two other TCA players, she has been recruited as part of the composite team of Cluster 6 that will compete for the winning team in the Butuan City Division Meet. This is another opportunity for her to grow, gain experience, and showcase the talent that God has entrusted to her. From a young athlete who dared to pursue an opportunity, she is now taking another step toward her dream.

Continue pursuing your dream Angel. Keep working hard, stay humble, remain disciplined, and never stop believing in what God can do through your talent and perseverance.

It was in May 2026 when we conducted a Volleyball Grassroots Coaching Course in the Municipality of Buenavista, Agusan del Norte. Little did we know that this initiative would open a door of opportunity for young volleyball players in Buenavista to pursue athletic scholarships at a prestigious school in Butuan City.

From the coaching course, we identified several promising junior high school athletes. We approached at least four high school students who had participated in the course, invited them to the tryouts, witnessed their performance, talked with their parents, assisted in the preparation of scholarship requirements, and guided them through the admission process.

It was not simply about finding talented players. It was about creating opportunities, connecting dreams with possibilities, and helping young athletes see a future beyond their own community.

Out of those talented junior high school players, one chose to stay, take the leap of faith, and pursue the opportunity. One athlete decided to step out of her comfort zone and embrace a new journey—bringing with her not only her talent in volleyball, but also the hopes and support of her family, coaches, and community.

One coaching course. Four young athletes given an opportunity. One who dared to pursue it.
