Strengthening Research and Academic Collaboration:
SJITβCU 2-Day Research Collaboration, Benchmarking Visit, and Academic Exchange
Saint Joseph Institute of Technology (SJIT) and Capitol University (CU) successfully conducted the 2-Day SJITβCU Research Collaboration Memorandum of Agreement Signing Ceremony and Benchmarking Visit and Academic Exchange of the SJIT Maritime Academy and CU College of Maritime Education on August 18β19, 2026.
The two-day activity marked a significant milestone in strengthening the partnership between the two institutions. The signing of the Research Collaboration Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) formally established a framework for cooperation in research, knowledge sharing, academic engagement, innovation, and institutional development, while the benchmarking visit and academic exchange provided opportunities to share experiences, explore best practices, and learn from the respective academic and maritime education programs of SJIT and CU.
SJIT extends its sincere appreciation to the distinguished delegation from Capitol University, led by C/M Ceferino E. Rama, Dean of the College of Maritime Education (CME), together with Dr. Romeo B. MiΓ±oza, CME Academic Head; Dr. Jenny B. Cano, CME Research Coordinator; and 2/O Jose N. Ocaya Jr., CME Faculty/Researcher, for their valuable participation, expertise, and insights throughout the two-day activity.
May this partnership serve as a strong foundation for more collaborative research initiatives, academic exchanges, knowledge-sharing activities, maritime education and training partnerships, and institutional development opportunities between Saint Joseph Institute of Technology and Capitol University.
Together, SJIT and CU continue to build meaningful partnerships that advance research, strengthen maritime education, and create opportunities for academic excellence and innovation.

A productive and meaningful discussion was held with Samuel Tang, Director of Sales, and Eng. Tang Lau, Solutions Engineer of Blackboard, focusing on the progress, experiences, challenges, and opportunities in the implementation of the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) at Saint Joseph Institute of Technology (SJIT).
As the first higher education institution in the Caraga Region to implement Blackboard LMS, SJIT continues to demonstrate its commitment to digital transformation, technological innovation, and excellence in education. Through the continuous integration of innovative learning technologies, SJIT empowers its faculty and students with more flexible, accessible, and engaging learning experiences.

Please be informed that face-to-face classes in all levels will resume tomorrow, August 18, 2026, following the temporary suspension due to the extreme heat, in accordance with the advisory issued by the City Government of Butuan.

In accordance with the advisory issued by the City Government of Butuan due to the prevailing high heat index the suspension of face-to-face classes at the Main Campus is hereby extended tomorrow.

π Classes will be conducted through online learning modality, except for classes scheduled at 4:45 PM onwards, which will resume face-to-face.

π Face-to-face classes continue as scheduled.

Due to the continuing extreme heat and in accordance with the advisory of the City Government of Butuan, face-to-face classes will remain suspended tomorrow, August 14, 2026.
Classes scheduled during the suspension period shall be conducted through asynchronous learning mode. However, face-to-face classes for college students scheduled at 4:45 PM onwards will resume as scheduled.
