Today, the Father Saturnino Urios University Gawad Kalinga Youth proudly honors our esteemed organization adviser, 𝗠𝗮’𝗮𝗺 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗮 𝗟𝘂𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗴-𝗔𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲, 𝗥𝗡, 𝗠𝗔𝗡.

Thank you for being more than a teacher and adviser. Your guidance, patience, and dedication continue to shape us not only as students and future professionals, but also as individuals committed to serving others and building stronger communities.

Your example reminds us that teaching extends beyond the classroom—it is also about inspiring, guiding, and empowering others to make a difference.

𝗬𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗗𝗔𝗬 | 𝗨𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗞𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗚𝗞 𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘆 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲

The Father Saturnino Urios University Gawad Kalinga Youth (FSUU GKY) held its second and final day of the Urian Kalinga Community Build 2026, bringing together university officials, personnel, and students to assist in community build activities at GK Brgy. Mahay Village, an Urian Legacy Village, on September 11.

GK Build was conducted in two sessions, with the morning session held from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and the afternoon session from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Participants assisted with various tasks, including shoveling fine aggregate and passing hollow blocks for the ongoing house construction.

The morning session gathered representatives from the Office of the President, Office of the Vice President for Administration and Student Affairs (VPASA), Cashier’s Office, Finance Office, Information Technology and Data Management (ITDM), Office of Internationalization, Student and Alumni Affairs (OISAA), and Registrar’s Office. OISAA Director, Dr. Mark Bon G. Basadre, DPA and Registrar Director, Alvin C. Pinedo, MAEM, together with their respective personnel.

They were joined by students from NSTP MM 11, NSTP CE 11, and NSTP CE 12, together with their respective instructor, Ms. Joanne Bhaya, Rover Adviser (RA), Juliet Torralba, and Rover Leader (RL).

The afternoon session included representative from Community Involvement and Advocacy (CInA), Ma'am Carina Gujilde, Human Resources and Management Division (HRMD) Director, Mr. Lyndon T. Buque, Medical-Dental Director, Dr. Shella Mae P. Jalique, MSc, MD, Guidance Center representatives with their Director, Dr. Maristela C. Gales, RGC, and Library and Biodiversity Resource Center (BIRC) representatives.

Urians from NSTP FM 11 and NSTP BSBIO also participated, accompanied by their respective instructor, Ralph Joshua Botero, Rover Adviser (RA), Mark M. Mondano, and Rover Leader.

The completion of the two-day community build at Mahay Village brought together members of various university offices and academic units in support of the Urian Kalinga Community Build 2026.

ONE TEAM, ONE PURPOSE, ONE HEART

The various committees worked together in full unity and cooperation under the guidance and coordination of our head, Ms. Olivia Lumasag Asendente, RN, MAN!

The fourth-year nursing student volunteers and the NSTP Rover students also took part with great dedication and hard work, helping each other, offering a hand in all the tasks, and giving their very best throughout the day.
The fact that the leaders guided each and every volunteer shows that we build something genuinely meaningful when we help one another and stand together.

We’d like to thank everybody for your hard work, your effort, and the great care you’ve shown! 🧡

NATIONAL HEROES DAY | AUGUST 31

Today, we pay tribute to our heroes known and unknown whose courage, conviction, and sacrifice shaped the nation we call home. Their lives remind us that love for country is shown not in words, but in service and sacrifice for the greater good.

Their legacy challenges us not only to remember, but to act.

In the spirit of Gawad Kalinga, may we carry that same spirit of heroism into our communities extending kindness, standing with the marginalized, and building a Philippines where everyone thrives.

Because loving our country means honoring those who sacrificed for it by choosing to serve, choosing to care, and choosing to build a nation worthy of their sacrifice.
