To all Parents and PSHS-CRC Scholars,

Based on the five-day weather outlook of PAGASA Butuan for the Caraga Region, the forecasted air temperature is expected to range from 25°C to 34°C. While we understand that actual conditions may sometimes differ from the forecast and the heat index may rise during the day, the school will continue to closely monitor the situation.

As provided in the relevant Board of Trustees resolution, should the heat index reach 42°C or higher, PSHS scholars will shift to asynchronous learning in accordance with the prescribed guidelines. However, based on the current weather outlook, face-to-face classes will continue, and all scholars are expected to report to school.

We understand the concerns of parents, especially during the warmer hours of the day. However, we believe that having our scholars in school allows us to provide them with the guidance, instruction, supervision, and learning support that they need. While the temperature may increase around midday, conditions generally become more manageable later in the afternoon as scholars prepare to go home.

More importantly, we believe that learning is best supported when our scholars are present and actively engaged with their teachers and classmates. Their presence in school allows teachers to immediately address learning gaps, provide clarification, monitor their progress, and ensure that they receive the quality instruction expected of a PSHS education.

Of course, we also recognize that parents know their children's circumstances and may make decisions based on what they believe is best for their child. Should a parent decide not to send their scholar to school, we respect that decision. However, we also encourage parents to ensure that their child keeps up with missed lessons and learning requirements.

The administration remains committed to the safety, well-being, and quality education of every PSHS-CRC scholar. We assure our parents that we will continue to monitor weather conditions and implement the appropriate learning modality whenever the situation requires it.

𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗺: In addition, starting tomorrow until Thursday, shortened class periods will be implemented to give way to scheduled division and committee meetings and to allow the PSHS-CRC community to actively participate in the activities in celebration of Buwan ng Wika on Friday, August 28.

PSHS‑CRC will conduct face‑to‑face classes tomorrow, August 24, 2026.

As part of tomorrow’s Lahutay activity (Zumba Dance) following the Flag Raising Ceremony, all participants are advised to wear appropriate, comfortable, and Zumba‑friendly attire that allows ease of movement.

Faculty, staff, and students are further reminded to bring their own water, stay well‑hydrated, minimize direct sun exposure, and observe necessary health measures to safeguard their wellness while on campus.

Pursuant to Proclamation No. 1006, declaring Friday, August 21, 2026, as a Special (Non‑Working) Dayin observance of 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘆 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗗𝗮𝘆, classes and work at the Philippine Science High School - CaragaRegion Campus in Butuan City are hereby suspended on the said date.

Regular classes and office operations shall resume on Monday, August 24, 2026, unless announcedotherwise.

The wearing of comfortable and appropriate school attire (white cotton T‑shirt with collar and khaki pants; Dengue/Type B uniform; or polo/blouse with khaki pants) remains in effect.

All personnel and students are advised to keep themselves well‑hydrated, minimize exposure to direct sunlight, and take necessary measures to safeguard their health and wellness while on campus.

PSHS-CRC Enhanced Campus Security Screening

To strengthen campus security and ensure the safety of all scholars, personnel, andother members of the PSHS-CRC community, enhanced security procedures shall bestrictly implemented at the campus entrance, effective immediately.

In line with the public advisory issued by the City Government of Butuan regarding learning modalities due to the current heat index forecast, schools have been granted discretion to adopt face‑to‑face or alternative learning arrangements beginning August 18, 2026, based on their risk management capacity.

Accordingly, PSHS‑CRC will implement synchronous online classes tomorrow, August 18, 2026, to ensure the health and safety of scholars while maintaining continuity of learning.
