OUR STORY
The inspiration behind the establishment of the Center For Healthcare Professions (CHP) comes from the belief that the start of the new millennium may well be known as the “Age of the Healthcare Provider”, wherein the demand for healthcare workers is seen to grow tremendously for the next few decades. CHP Butuan envisions a community of caregivers with dedication, commitment and competence in the delivery of healthcare services, thereby enabling them to pursue productive careers. Profound changes have started to occur all over the world, as the elderly are becoming a major part of the population. The prolonged life expectancy and the changing lifestyles and role of women in society have resulted in a distinctly increasing demand for caregivers and other healthcare workers. Canada, with its Live-In Caregiver Program, is the first country to have specifically laid out requirements for those who want to work as caregivers. It is expected however, that many industrialized countries like the United States and those in Europe and Asia, would subsequently develop their own distinct pathways that would pave the entry of foreign caregivers. THE CAREGIVER TRAINING PROGRAM
CHP Butuan started its operations in 2003 by offering a six-month full-time training course for caregivers (Home Health Aide). This training program conforms to the standards set by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), which is the Philippines’ governing body for technical and vocational institutions. The caregiver training program has been patterned after caregiver curricula particularly in Canada and the United States. OTHER COURSES AND PROGRAMS
As an education and training institution, CHP Butuan has offered other related courses and programs to address international healthcare worker trends and to cater the demands for local employment.
