Buruanga ES pupils claim the coveted spot in DSPC 2025
Four pupils of Buruanga ES claimed the coveted spot in the highly competitive Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) 2025 held at Bacan National High School, Banga, Aklan on February 23, 2025.
IVAN RENJ P. ILIN, Grade 6-SPJ, secured the coveted spot in News Writing English as 3rd Place and 2025 RSPC qualifier. Ivan is a consistent winner after he got the 8th Place last 2024 DSPC.
DWYANE POHBO C. OQUENDO, Grade 5-SPJ got his first award in DSPC after switching from Editorial Cartooning to News Writing English. Pohbo secured his spot in DSPC as Rank 10 in News Writing English.
A big comeback for JIANIKCHA R. IGUIRON, Grade 6-SPJ, after hitting the 9th spot in Pagsulat ng Balita Filipino. She was not able to secure a spot in 2024 DSPC but she secured the 9th Place in her comeback for 2025 DSPC.
Newbie in DSPC contest, MARY SOFIE J. IGUIRON, Grade 5-SPJ, earned her first award and brought home the 6th Place in Pagsulat ng Balita Filipino.
This year's success for the young journalists of Buruanga ES showed to everyone that they can compete to other competitive schools in the Division of Aklan.
The achievements would not be possible without the guidance of the hardworking coach, Sir DECS L. FLORES, T-I, Grade 6-SPJ Adviser, School Paper Adviser, District Campus Journalism Focal Person and an Innovator. He produced very competitive pupils of BES in News Writing in both English and Filipino since 2023 DSPC contest after two participants won the 2nd Place in News Writing and 3rd Place in Pagsulat ng Balita and qualified to proceed in RSPC contest. This year was his big comeback in RSPC 2025.
Also, the un-ending support of the School Principal, ROSA R. SUALOG, for the encouragement and resources. The most proudest of all, the parents, who were there to support financially, emotionally, and spiritually.
This 2025 DSPC victory is not just winning in a competition but to showcase the school's commitment to nuture the young journalists in the District of Buruanga.
