A coordination meeting took place between Dr. Ferdinand A. Dumalagan, Vice President for Research, Innovation, Development, and Extension, and the ASSCAT Flood Alert System Technology (FAST) Project Team, alongside the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) – Bunawan, headed by Jambres Jainar, the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer. The meeting, held at the MDRRMO function room, aimed to enhance disaster preparedness by developing and implementing the FAST project.

The discussions focused on fortifying collaboration between the two parties and provided an in-depth overview of the FAST technical capabilities. Presentations covered various aspects of the system, including structural design of the stations, real-time flood monitoring, and the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology. These deliberations were pivotal in clarifying the roles and responsibilities of both teams while addressing the legal dimensions associated with the project. Additionally, the meeting provided an opportunity to refine the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and establish a comprehensive framework for the FAST deployment.

The session resulted in several key agreements guiding the project’s progression. These include the decision to proceed with the pilot installation of the system, the standardization of the hydrometric gauges, and the formation of a joint implementation team. Both parties reiterated their commitment to enhancing community safety and resilience, recognizing the long-term advantages the FAST project would bring to Bunawan, Agusan del Sur. The stakeholders expressed optimism and enthusiasm as they agreed on the next steps, thereby setting the groundwork for the successful implementation of the system and its anticipated positive impact on local flood monitoring and disaster management efforts.

The inaugural monthly meeting for the Flood Alert System Technology (FAST) project was conducted on June 2, 2025, at 8:00 AM at the Dean's Office, College of Engineering and Industrial Technology. The meeting convened the ASSCAT FAST Project Team, comprising Project Leader Engr. Manuel T. Tabada, Jr., and project members Dr. Rodulfo A. Macalam and Engr. Redin Jhon T. Carriedo and project staff Josue A. Sahay and Raymond R. Rañolas.

The primary objective of the meeting was to establish foundational protocols for the FAST project, define its scope, and outline the immediate action items necessary for its successful implementation. Central discussions included setting documentation standards, planning the technical aspects of the project, and ensuring effective administrative coordination. The team collaboratively finalized strategies for managing, storing, and reporting project-related documents, prioritizing consistency and transparency throughout the project's duration.

Additionally, the team outlined the development timeline, detailing milestones from July to December 2025. In alignment with the overarching goal of enhancing community safety and disaster preparedness in flood-prone areas in the municipality of Bunawan, the FAST team emphasized the importance of utilizing technology-driven solutions for flood monitoring. This includes integrating an early warning alarm system to improve flood response times.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to achieving the project's following milestones while fostering collaboration with key stakeholders. This ensures that the FAST project's objectives are consistent with broader goals to enhance community resilience and safety in flood-prone areas.
