Empowering Educators: Advancing Quality Education through Action Research 📚

The Philippine Normal University (PNU) Mindanao, through PROJECT IDUKAR 2.0, in collaboration with ASSCAT’s PROJECT EDUKALIDAD, successfully conducted an extension activity for the English major teachers of Agusan Sur National High School in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.

Graced by Dr. Adelyne M. Costelo-Abrea, Executive Director and Provost of PNU Mindanao, together with Dr. Lyzyl Lopez-Banuag, lead person of PROJECT IDUKAR, and other PNU Mindanao faculty members, the event became a meaningful exchange of expertise and advocacy for educational excellence.

Also present were Mrs. Venus D. Bajao, Principal IV of Agusan Sur National High School, and Dr. Shiryl T. Ytoc, Dean of the College of Teacher Education of ASSCAT, with her dedicated faculty team.

The activity highlighted the Action Research — emphasizing its process, relevance, and impact in transforming classroom practices and advancing the culture of research among educators 💡

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, this collaboration strengthens the shared mission of advancing teacher competence and ensuring inclusive, equitable, and high-quality learning for all 🤝

We are thrilled to celebrate the successful second day of our BSED Program Extension Activity! Last November 7, 2025, our dedicated BSED English, Mathematics, and Science faculty led an enriching "𝒮𝑒𝓂𝒾𝓃𝒶𝓇-𝒲𝑜𝓇𝓀𝓈𝒽𝑜𝓅 𝑜𝓃 𝒮𝓉𝓇𝒶𝓉𝑒𝑔𝒾𝒸 𝐼𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓇𝓋𝑒𝓃𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃 𝑀𝒶𝓉𝑒𝓇𝒾𝒶𝓁𝓈 (𝒮𝐼𝑀): 𝐼𝓃𝓃𝑜𝓋𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃𝓈 𝒾𝓃 𝒟𝑒𝓋𝑒𝓁𝑜𝓅𝓂𝑒𝓃𝓉 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒱𝒶𝓁𝒾𝒹𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃" at the ASSCAT ICT Complex. Special recognition to our outstanding speakers, Sir Jerwin Repollo and Ma'am Shiela Paredes, whose expertise guided participants in deepening their understanding of creating effective, research-based intervention materials that truly make a difference in student learning ✨

The workshop brought together selected faculty members from West Bunawan National High School (WBNHS), Bunawan National High School (BNHS), and Libertad National High School (LNHS). Through hands-on activities and collaborative sessions, participants gained valuable insights into the development and validation processes essential for crafting high-quality Strategic Intervention Materials, fostering unity and shared commitment to student success.

This extension activity exemplifies our dedication to continuous professional development and strengthening quality education in our community, directly contributing to SDG 4: Quality Education - ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. Heartfelt gratitude to our BSED faculty facilitators and all participating teachers for their expertise and active engagement. Together, we are equipping educators with innovative tools to address diverse learning needs and create more inclusive, effective classrooms! 📚

The Bachelor of Elementary Education Faculty, under the dedicated leadership of Program Chairperson Ma’am Emelyn Sagrado, successfully conducted a two-day extension activity at Nueva Era Elementary School last September 22–23, 2025, titled “Enhancing Teacher’s Competence in the Effective Utilization and Integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Classroom Instruction.”

This meaningful endeavor aimed to strengthen the teachers’ capacity to effectively integrate modern technologies into their teaching practices. Through hands-on sessions, interactive discussions, and collaborative workshops, the participants gained practical knowledge on how ICT can transform traditional teaching into more dynamic, engaging, and learner-centered instruction.

The activity reflects the BEEd Department’s continuous commitment to community engagement and educational innovation - bridging the gap between traditional pedagogy and the demands of the 21st-century classroom.

OP CONFERS ASSCAT QUALITY PROFICIENCY AWARD 💚

In the cusp of its final transition to a state university, the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) was conferred the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Level II: Proficiency in Quality Management by the Office of the President, the highest level achieved by the 18 national awardees this year.

ASSCAT has fittingly joined the ranks of the country’s most quality-driven institutions, a salutary nod for its distinct commitment to building strong systems and academic partnerships, delivering quality service in higher education and its current central role in the development of soil information system and science-based agriculture innovations.

ASSCAT’s enduring partnership with Cong Eddiebong Plaza, ACIAR, Griffith University and the Provincial Research Development Innovation Office of Agusan del Sur cultivated science as a transformational tool for smallholder farmers and as an anchor for a food secure future. 🌾
