BULAN NHS Young Scientists Shine at 14th SEAMEO SSYS in Penang, Malaysia

Researchers from Bulan NHS shine on the international stage after earning medals at the 14th Regional Search for SEAMEO Young Scientists (SSYS) held on February 9-12, 2026 at RECSAM, Penang, Malaysia.

The team was guided by their coaches Jeriel G. Martirez, Maria Imma Concepcion C. Esteves, Rae John E. Arango with support from research advisor Welimen C. Oseo who was unable to join the delegation in Malaysia.

Team PUNLAD led by Daniela Q. Agne, Rayne Gabrielle M. Dumdum and Rella Alexendrei R. Gojar earned BRONZE MEDAL for Outstanding Award for Best Project Exhibit.

Research on Algal Bloom presented by Yeleenah G. Palacio received SILVER MEDAL for Special Award for Creativity/Innovation and two BRONZE MEDALS for Outstanding Award for Presentation and Special Award for Application of STEM Concepts.

Research on Ovicide by Gabriel Andrei R. Gersalia received two SILVER MEDALS for Special Award for Application of STEM Concepts and Special Award for Educational Contribution and a BRONZE MEDAL for Special Award for benefit to the Community.

RASAY, a research on landslide presented by Gabriel B. Naz served as FINALIST in the Upper Secondary Level.

We expressed our profound gratitude to the parents of the researches for the trust and support. Likewise, we acknowledged the guidance provided by ROV led by Sir Gilbert Sadsad, Regional Director, SDO Sorsogon Province headed by Jose L. Doncillo, CESO V, to Michelle H. Guadamor, EPS Science, Bulan NHS administration Dr. Johnberk B. Evasco, Principal III, Roselle G. Galos, ASP II and Raquel H. Macabuhay, JHS Coordinator.
