In celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month, the Bucay Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), headed by Ms. Margarita G. Sanico, in partnership with the Bucay Municipal Police Station (MPS), conducted a Disaster Preparedness Activity and First Aide Training at Madalipay Elementary School on July 16, 2026.
The activity aimed to enhance the preparedness of learners, teachers, and school personnel by equipping them with essential knowledge and practical skills needed during emergencies and disasters. Participants attended an informative lecture on disaster preparedness, highlighting the importance of readiness, proper response, and community cooperation in minimizing the impact of natural and human-induced hazards.
One of the highlights of the activity was the lecture and hands-on demonstration on Basic Life Support (BLS), including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for drowning victims, and proper bandaging techniques. The MDRRMO personnel demonstrated the correct procedures in assessing an emergency situation, administering CPR to a drowning victim, and applying appropriate bandages for common injuries. Participants were also given the opportunity to observe and practice the proper techniques under the guidance of the facilitators, making the learning experience interactive, practical, and engaging.
The Bucay Municipal Police Station (MPS) also shared valuable reminders on maintaining peace, order, and safety during emergencies. They encouraged everyone to stay calm, remain vigilant, and work together to ensure the safety of the school and the community during disaster situations.
The activity was both informative and inspiring, strengthening the confidence of the participants to respond appropriately during emergencies. More importantly, it reinforced the importance of preparedness, teamwork, and timely action in saving lives and reducing the risks brought about by disasters.
Madalipay Elementary School extends its heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Margarita G. Sanico, the dedicated personnel of the Bucay MDRRMO, and the Bucay Municipal Police Station for their valuable time, expertise, and unwavering commitment to promoting disaster resilience. Through this meaningful activity, the school community became better equipped with the knowledge and life-saving skills needed to respond effectively and build a safer, more resilient community.
