✨Brooke's Point National High School Tops PROJECT SAFE Assessment, Earns Gold School DRRM Champion Recognition
Brooke's Point, Palawan | July 30, 2026 – Brooke's Point National High School (BPNHS) emerged as the overall champion in the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office's (MDRRMO) PROJECT SAFE (Schools' Assessment for Facility and Emergency-Readiness), earning the highest score of 95% among 12 participating schools in the Municipality of Brooke's Point.
The recognition was formally conferred during the Araw ng Pagkilala held on July 30, 2026, at the Brooke's Point Convention Center, where the school was awarded the prestigious Gold School DRRM Champion distinction.
The award recognizes BPNHS's outstanding compliance with the standards and requirements of PROJECT SAFE, an assessment program designed to evaluate schools' preparedness in disaster risk reduction and management, emergency response, school safety, evacuation planning, and overall emergency readiness.
Earlier this year, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), in partnership with the Department of Education and other stakeholders, invited schools across the municipality to participate in PROJECT SAFE.
Participating schools underwent a comprehensive assessment, submitted documentary requirements and Means of Verification (MOVs), and demonstrated their best practices in creating safe and disaster-resilient learning environments.
After a rigorous evaluation process, Brooke's Point National High School obtained the highest overall rating of 95%, outperforming the other eleven participating schools and securing the top honor.
The recognition highlights the school's unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of preparedness, resilience, and safety for its learners, teachers, and stakeholders. It also reflects the dedication of the school's administration, faculty, School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRRM) Team, and community partners in implementing effective disaster preparedness and risk reduction initiatives.
School Principal IV Mr. Edgardo C. Mutia and the school's SDRRM Coordinator Ma'am Lolly P. Joven and Sir Sammuel R. Moscoso represented the Brooke's Point National High School during the awarding ceremony and received the recognition from the Municipal Government of Brooke's Point through the Office of the Municipal Mayor and the MDRRMC.
The achievement serves as an inspiration to schools across the municipality, demonstrating that consistent commitment to disaster preparedness and resilience can create safer learning environments and better protect the school community during emergencies.
As a Gold SDRRM Champion and the highest-performing school in the 2026 PROJECT SAFE Assessment, Brooke's Point National High School continues to uphold its commitment to excellence—not only in academic instruction but also in ensuring the safety, preparedness, and well-being of every learner and member of the school community.
This recognition is a testament to the collective efforts of the entire Brooke's Point National High School community headed by Principal IV Edgardo C. Mutia. Together, we remain committed to building a safe, resilient, and disaster-ready school for all.
Special thanks to the Municipal Mayor Hon. Cesareo r. Benedito Jr. and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) headed by Mohd. Raiyan R. Miranda, REB, REA, MMPA, MCDRM for this program direction and acknowledgment for this award.
