Hi, I’m Jamie M. Manzano, 31, from Solano, Nueva Vizcaya
I was born and raised in the peaceful barangay of Poblacion North, Solano, where I learned to stand up and fight for life. I became an athlete at 11 years old, competing as a student-athlete until college, balancing academics and training while dealing with challenges that tested my mental health and strength. But I pushed through and graduated, proving that hard work pays off.
Coming out wasn’t easy, as I didn’t fit the “perfect girl” image that my family once pictured. But in time, they accepted and loved me for who I am. Today, they are my biggest supporters, standing by me during our town’s first-ever Pride Month celebration and now, as I step forward to represent Tomboy Philippines.
I am a public servant and part of the academe, helping manage our family’s Technical Vocational School while giving scholarships to those in need. I am also an animal welfare advocate, actively rescuing and caring for animals alongside my family, despite the challenges and costs. We care for 70 dogs and 6 cats, reminding us that love means taking responsibility, no matter how tough it gets.
I know that society doesn’t always see us fairly when it comes to gender identity, but I am grateful to be surrounded by people who love and accept me for who I am. They are happy with who I am and the dreams I pursue, and that’s what matters most.
I am determined to succeed and inspire others, proving that we, as LGBTQIA+, are not limited by labels. We are capable of achieving our dreams, and we are worthy of respect and recognition.
