Eastern Samar State University proudly announces that the 13th International Conference on Integrative Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (13th ICIDRRM) has been officially endorsed by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) through PASUC Advisory No. 167, s. 2026.

Eastern Samar State University once again brings together global and local voices in disaster risk reduction and management as it hosts the 𝟏𝟑𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐃𝐑𝐑𝐌) on 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟒–𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, at the 𝐁𝐈𝐆 𝐇𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐥, 𝐂𝐞𝐛𝐮 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬.

Under the theme “𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞,” the 13th ICIDRRM invites environmental preservation advocates, researchers, academicians, DRRM practitioners and adopters, end-users and business sector representatives, policymakers, and local government unit (LGU) representatives to come together as presenters or participants.

More than a research conference, the 13th ICIDRRM is a platform for sharing knowledge, showcasing innovations, and strengthening collaboration. The conference will feature:

• Thematic Sessions on emerging DRRM challenges and solutions
• Research Presentations highlighting relevant and innovative studies

Congratulations, Dr. Riomar G. Obliopas 🎉👏

Dr. Obliopas was conferred the Outstanding University Extensionist Award (Category A) with a rating of 90.50 under the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE).

His achievement is complemented by the recognition of Project TUL-ID – Technical Upskilling via Ladderized, Intensive, and Multi-tiered Dynamic Approach to Research Capability Building Program as Outstanding Extension Program/Project (Category B), earning an impressive 93.10.

Project TUL-ID strengthens teachers’ research capabilities through progressive training, mentoring, and technical support, fostering a stronger culture of research and evidence-based practice.

We also recognize the valuable partnership and support of the Department of Education – Schools Division of Eastern Samar, whose collaboration has been instrumental in advancing the project and extending its impact to teachers and schools across the province.

Taft Farmers Gears Up Circular Economy Livelihoods

Taft, Eastern Samar – February 19, 2025 – The DOST-funded project “Innovation and Technology Support for the Development of Community-Based Enterprises under Circular Economy on Solid Waste Products in the Northern Municipalities of Eastern Samar,” complemented by the university’s PAGBAG-O (Panalipod, Agrikultura, Gamit-Basura Aksyon, Ginhawa, Oportunidad) extension program, local farmers participated in a Stakeholders Consultation, Equipment Turnover, and Technology Demonstration.

The activity oriented farmers on circular economy practices, trained them on proper equipment use, and gathered feedback on their needs, preparing them for successful project rollout. Beneficiaries included the Mantang Rainfed and Coco Farmers Association (charcoal briquets), Brgy. Dacul Farmers Association (coco coir products), and Christ the King Bag-o nga Kinabuhi Farmers Association (organic fertilizer production).

The event was graced by Hon. Gina A. Ty, Municipal Mayor of Taft, and conducted in coordination with the Office of the Municipal Agricultural Services, with support from the 4Ps Party-list, represented by Congressman Marcelino “Nonoy” Libanan and Congressional District Office of Eastern Samar through Congressman Sheen Gonzales, which helped facilitate resources for the initiative.

This initiative highlights the university’s commitment to sustainable community development, circular economy innovation, and livelihood development.
