The College of Science of Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) successfully conducted its Student Orientation and CSSO-FCO Election on July 8, 2026, at the ESSU Pavilion, bringing together students, faculty members, and college officials to formally open the academic year.
The event officially opened with welcome remarks from Dr. Rhea Palma A. Ortego, Dean of the College of Science, who encouraged students to uphold integrity, emphasizing that while artificial intelligence continues to transform education and society, integrity remains a human value that AI can never replace.
Orientation sessions for the BS Biology and BS Environmental Science programs were conducted by Ms. Jescel Hannah B. Ambida, Program Head of the BS Biology Program, together with Prof. Lylah Daisy A. Acorin and Prof. Rebecca A. Corre, faculty members of the BS Environmental Science Program. The sessions introduced students to their respective degree programs, curriculum, academic expectations, and the opportunities available throughout their academic journey.
Faculty members from both academic programs were likewise introduced, allowing students to become familiar with the mentors who will guide them throughout their studies.
The event also featured the presentation of the Financial Report by the FCO Treasurer before culminating in the College Student Supreme OrganizationโFederation of College Organizations (CSSO-FCO) Election, providing students the opportunity to elect their new student leaders for the academic year.
The orientation and election underscored the College of Scienceโs commitment to fostering informed, empowered, and engaged students while promoting participatory leadership and active involvement in campus life.
