In the spirit of compassion, inclusion, and youth empowerment, MPSU student leaders, interns, and volunteers joined the Youth Cares Outreach Program for Youth with Disabilities (PWDs), carrying the theme โ€œDifferent Contexts, Common Aspirations.โ€

The outreach provided meaningful services and essential support to the beneficiaries, including free haircuts, dental consultations, gift-giving, school supplies, and hygiene kits. Beyond the services and donations, the activity created a space where young people were reminded that despite differences in circumstances and experiences, everyone shares common hopes, dreams, and aspirations.

The program was spearheaded by LYDO Officer Ross Kiat-ong, together with the SK Chairpersons of Central Bontoc, headed by SK Federation President Hon. Mark Branford Andaya, The activity was also made possible through the valuable partnership of Bontoc MPS, MPSPED Principal Ms. Ching Kilakil, whose support helped strengthen the outreach and its commitment to creating a more inclusive community.

For the MPSU student leaders, interns, and volunteers, participation in the activity was more than an act of service, it was an opportunity to listen, connect, and contribute to a community where every young person is seen, valued, and empowered.

Different contexts may shape our journeys, but our aspirations unite us.Through collaboration and compassion, we continue to build a community where no one is left behind.

Earlier today, the Mountain Province State University Administration was informed that 20 of our students were stranded in Paoay, Atok, Benguet due to the prevailing road conditions. Upon receiving the information, the MPSU team immediately took action and worked to find safe and comfortable accommodations where our students could rest while waiting for the roads and travel conditions to become safer.

We are deeply grateful to the LGU ATOK and the Atok Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) for their immediate assistance and for accompanying and ensuring the safety and welfare of our stranded students during this difficult situation. Your presence and support provided our students with reassurance when they needed it most.

Our sincerest gratitude also goes to Atok Haven Transient House, who graciously answered our call for help and welcomed all 20 stranded students into their establishment. What makes their gesture even more meaningful is that they generously accommodated our students free of charge, refusing to ask for any payment despite providing them a safe and comfortable place to stay.

You did not simply provide our students with a roof over their heads, you gave them comfort, safety, and peace of mind during an unexpected and uncertain moment.

To the Atok LGU, Atok MDRRMC, and the people behind Atok Haven Transient House, AGYAMAN KAMI. Your kindness and willingness to help demonstrate what a true community looks like, one that does not hesitate to extend a helping hand when others are in need.

May the Lord bless you abundantly and return your generosity a hundredfold. May the kindness you have shown our students continue to inspire others to serve, care, and help without expecting anything in return.

โ€œWhen people come together in a moment of uncertainty, a simple act of kindness can become a shelter of hope.โ€

Agyaman kami. Thank you for reminding our students that even when the road home is blocked, there will always be people willing to open a door for them.๐Ÿ’šโค๏ธ๐Ÿ™

This precaution is being issued due to reported landslides, road closures, and other safety hazards affecting several routes, including:

โ€ข Several landslides reported in Atok and Buguias

๐Ÿ“ Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road

To our fellow students, please do not risk your safety just to make the journey home or return to campus.
We understand that these circumstances may affect your classes and academic requirements, and we encourage everyone to remain patient and await further announcements and appropriate guidance from the University.

Your safety comes first. No class, requirement, or schedule is worth putting your life at risk.

Education begins with opportunity but opportunity is difficult to seize when a student is distracted by something as basic as hunger.

One of the hard truths we must recognize is that not every student comes to school with a full stomach. For many, attending classes means setting aside hunger in pursuit of a better future. While this reality often goes unnoticed, it is one that deserves our attention, understanding, and action.

It is for this reason that we commend the Gender and Development (GAD) Unit of Mountain Province State University and its Director Ms. Michelle Doss for spearheading the โ€œPinggang Sapat Nutrition Drive," a meaningful initiative that reminds us that caring for students extends beyond the four corners of the classroom.

Over the course of three days, the program provided warm, nourishing meals to students:

Day 1: Champorado
Day 2: Sopas
Day 3: Goto

More than 780 students benefited from this nutrition drive, each meal serving not only as nourishment for the body but also as a reminder that the university community sees, understands, and cares for their needs.

The "Pinggang Sapat Nutrition Drive" is more than a feeding activity, it is an affirmation that student welfare includes ensuring that no learner is left behind because of hunger. A bowl of champorado, sopas, or goto may seem simple, but for some students, it is the meal that helps them stay focused in class, regain their energy, and continue chasing their dreams.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the MPSU Administration, GAD Unit, the volunteers, and everyone who made this initiative possible. Your generosity demonstrates that compassion is one of the strongest foundations of education. By addressing the basic needs of students, you are helping create an environment where every learner has a better chance to succeed.

As a university community, may we continue to recognize that academic excellence and student success begin with dignity, empathy, and shared responsibility. Because when we nourish our students, we are also nourishing their hopes, their potential, and the future they are striving to build.
