𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛 𝗪𝗘-𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗪 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 || Mountain Province State University (MPSU) successfully hosted the Worldwide Engagement for Bridging Research, Excellence, and Wisdom (WE-BREW) 2026 from September 16-18, 2026, at the Teng-ab Pastoral Complex in Bontoc, Mountain Province.

Bridging together researchers, scholars, and partners from universities and institutions across the Philippines and abroad, WE-BREW 2026 provided a platform for meaningful academic exchange, research collaboration, and cultural engagement. Beyond the sharing of knowledge and research findings, the conference fostered new connections, strengthened partnerships, and celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Cordillera - bringing the highlands closer to the global academic community.

BONTOC, Mountain Province | September 23, 2026 --- New friendships, shared stories, and a deeper understanding of different cultures marked the conclusion of the 10-day Academic and Cultural Exchange Program of Mountain Province State University (MPSU) with international delegates from India and Vietnam.

The culminating activity, held at the MPSU Administration Conference Hall, brought together students and faculty from Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) University Mohali, India, and HUTECH University, Vietnam, with members of the MPSU community.

More than an academic activity, the exchange provided opportunities for participants to experience life and culture in Mountain Province while learning alongside one another. Through lectures, cultural activities, campus engagements, and interactions with the local community, the delegates shared their own traditions while discovering those of their hosts.

In his keynote message, MPSU President Dr. Edgar G. Cue encouraged the participants to carry the lessons and experiences of the exchange beyond the 10-day program by turning shared ideas into initiatives and building relationships that can support continued collaboration in research, community projects, student exchanges, and other collaborative endeavors.

The international delegates also shared reflections on their 10-day stay, recalling the experiences, lessons, and relationships that shaped their visit. Their reflections highlighted not only what they learned in the classroom but also the warmth of the people they encountered and the experiences they shared throughout their stay.

For MPSU, the program opened opportunities for members of its community to engage with international peers and explore possibilities for continued academic and cultural collaboration.

The conclusion of the exchange therefore marked more than the end of the delegates’ visit. It signified the continuation of relationships that may lead to future learning opportunities, collaborative initiatives, research engagements, and student exchanges.

Through international exchange, MPSU continues to create spaces where learning extends beyond classrooms and where cultural differences become opportunities to understand, connect, and learn from one another.

From Mountain Province to India and Vietnam, the 10-day journey leaves behind memories and connections that can continue long after the delegates have returned home. #

The Mountain Province State University maintained a steady performance in campus sustainability in the latest release results of the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, accumulating a total score of 6,025 points.

For this year’s evaluation, MPSU placed 867th worldwide, 46th nationally, 507th in Asia, and 7th in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). The University’s shift in ranking—down from 753rd globally and 33rd in the Philippines in 2025, comes during a period of significantly increased global participation. A total of 2,016 higher education institutions from 110 countries participated in the 2026 evaluation, marking and influx of 15.5%, with 271 new participating universities, compared to 1,745 institutions in 2025.

Despite the intensified competition, MPSU’s overall sustainability score remained remarkably resilient, adjusting by just 10 points from 6,035 in 2025 to 6,025 in 2026.

𝘒𝘦𝘺 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴
The 2026 evaluation framework introduced a seventh thematic category, Governance and Digitalization (GD), joining the six established categories: Setting and Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste Management (WS), Water Usage (WR), Transportation (TR), and Education and Research (ED).

The University recorded strong results for the newly added Governance and Digitalization, earning 850 points. MPSU also registered progress in Transportation, where its score jumped from 810 to 1,037.5 points (+227.5). Additionally, Energy and Climate Change saw steady growth, rising to 1,075 points compared to 1,050 points in 2025.

𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘈𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴
Under the updated scoring criteria, performance across categories showed areas for future development. The University registered 825 points in Setting and Infrastructure, 675 in Waste Management, 625 in Water Usage and 937.5 in Education and Research.

Said results highlight MPSU’s continuous efforts and participation in the global sustainability impact assessment and its stable core score underscores ongoing institutional initiatives to maintain green campus programs, amidst evolving evaluation metrics and heightened global participation.

Mountain Province State University (MPSU) BS Criminology students gained practical experience in crime scene processing through a two-day international collaborative learning session held on September 22-23, 2026 at the University Auditorium.

The activity, titled “The Practical of Crime Scene Processing: An Output-Based Learning for Criminology Students,” featured crime scene processing briefings, demonstrations, hands-on exercises, case folder presentations, and panel defenses.

The session opened with remarks from Dr. Edgar B. Mapangdol, Dean of CCJELA, and a message from MPSU President Dr. Edgar G. Cue. This was followed by a crime scene processing briefing led by PLTCOL Chester G. Nitron, Provincial Chief of the Mountain Province Provincial Forensic Unit (MPPFU), and a demonstration by the PNP Forensic Group MPPFU SOCO Team.

Students were then divided into 10 groups for simultaneous crime scene processing exercises facilitated by SOCO Teams Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie, with designated faculty and Dr. Sagarika Rupainwar serving as facilitators.

On the second day, students presented and defended their case folders before a panel composed of PLTCOL Nitron, PMAJ Brando T. Dayagan, PLT Diem Domingo, Mr. Bronson L. Peckley, and Dr. Sagarika Rupainwar. The panel represented various forensic specializations, including fingerprint examination, fi****ms examination, forensic chemistry, and forensic odontology.

An open forum followed the presentations, allowing students to raise questions and discuss issues related to crime scene processing and forensic examination.

The activity concluded with the presentation of results and awarding of certificates, followed by closing remarks from Dr. Edgar L. Danglosi, Chairperson of Criminology Department

The two-day session was facilitated by the MPPFU, its SOCO team, and Dr. Rupainwar, providing students with an opportunity to apply classroom concepts to actual crime scene processing and strengthen their technical and professional skills. #
