MP equips ALS learners and teachers with first aid and mental health skills

3 days First Aid Training and Mental Health Awareness Activity for Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners and teachers, at the Senior Citizens Building in Barangay Caluttit, Bontoc, from September 29 to October 1, 2026.

The activity aimed to equip ALS learners and teachers with basic knowledge and practical skills in first aid and emergency response, while promoting awareness of mental health and well-being. It also sought to strengthen their preparedness and capacity to respond appropriately to emergencies within their learning and community environments.

In view of the continued heavy rainfall brought about by Tropical Storm Maymay and the Southwest Monsoon, and upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), work in government offices and classes at all levels in the National Capital Region and the provinces of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, Abra, Zambales, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, and Occidental Mindoro are hereby suspended on 06 August 2026.

Agencies delivering essential and emergency services shall continue their operations. The suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads.

The Alternative Learning System (ALS) Bontoc Ili CLC, together with Bontoc Ili Primary School, BLGU Bontoc Ili, BFP Bontoc, and the Philippine Army (102 1B, 51D) joined hands in a meaningful tree planting activity, promoting environmental stewardship and community collaboration for a sustainable future. 💚🌳

SON OF BONTOC, MOUNTAIN PROVINCE GRADUATES FROM PHILIPPINE MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY
Congratulations Dandy Fakat Safawil!

The people of Bontoc proudly celebrate the remarkable achievement of DANDY FAKAT SAFAWIL, who successfully graduated from the Philippine Merchant Academy (PMMA) as a member of the Salighirang Class of 2026.

Recognized as the premier merchant marine academy in the Philippines, the PMMA is renowned for producing world-class marine officers and leaders of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). Every cadet must undergo years of intensive military discipline, rigorous academic instruction, and character formation training designed to prepare them for the challenges of serving in the global maritime industry or in the AFP.

Dandy is the son of Evangeline “Awwang” Farnig Safawil and Bryner Fumucao Safawil and proudly hails from Chao-ey, Bontoc Ili. He is also the product of the All Saints’ Mission School. His graduation at the PMMA is not only a personal triumph but also a source of immense pride for his family, community and the Municipality of Bontoc. His accomplishment affirms that with hard work, discipline, and unwavering dediction, sons and daughters of Bontoc are capable o meeting -and overcoming- the extraordinary demands of one of the country’s most challenging educational institution.

Dandy’s success stands as an inspiration to the younger generation in Bontoc, encouraging aspiring students to dream bigger, persevere through adversity and strive for excellence. Bontoc celebrates this milestone and may his achievement inspire many more young Igorots to pursue their aspiration and continue bringing honor and pride to Bontoc and the Cordilleras.

Supported through a grant from BPI Foundation, the initiative will expand access to science-based learning resources and livelihood opportunities, benefiting more Learners & Teachers across the region.
