As the morning sun gently touched the old stones of Boljoon Church, people began arriving โ one by one, family by family โ each drawn by faith and love for the Blessed Virgin Mary. Slowly, the pews filled with the faithful, their hearts lifted in prayer and devotion. It was a tender sight: faces both young and old, united in their quiet longing for Maryโs guidance, protection, and grace. Families came home โ home to Boljoon, where their faith was nurtured, and where the town itself welcomes her children back with open arms.
Earlier today, at 10:00 a.m., the Pontifical Mass for the Feast Day of Nuestra Seรฑora Patrocinio de Maria Santisima was celebrated. The church overflowed with people โ not only Boljoanons but also devotees and pilgrims from nearby towns โ all gathered as one family in faith. The celebration was made even more meaningful by the presence of Most Rev. Alberto โAbetโ Uy, D.D., who presided over the solemn Mass and shared words of hope and reflection that touched every heart.
The celebration was a living portrait of devotion. Angels dressed in white walked gracefully down the aisle, followed by honor guards carrying the image of the Blessed Virgin, their steps steady and reverent. Acolytes and priests of Cebu completed the sacred procession. For a moment, the whole church seemed to shimmer with peace, as if heaven itself had come down to bless Boljoon and her people.
With the theme โJourneying Together with Mary in Faith, Anchored in Hope and Witnessing in Love,โ this 426th Annual Fiesta Celebration reminded everyone that faith brings people together. Lifeโs journey is never meant to be walked alone. With Mary as our guide, we are called to live in faith, hold on to hope, and share love generously with others.
For the people of Boljoon, this fiesta is more than a celebration โ it is a homecoming. Families who live far away return each year to give thanks, to renew their devotion, and to feel the comforting presence of their patroness. Every prayer, every song, and every candle lit becomes an offering of love to the Blessed Mother who never ceases to watch over her children.
As the Mass concluded and the image of Nuestra Seรฑora Patrocinio de Maria Santisima was returned to her place of honor, a gentle stillness filled the church. The sight of angels in white, the unity of the people, and the deep reverence in the air spoke of one truth: Mary continues to lead her people closer to God through her love.
This yearโs fiesta was a celebration of faith, hope, and love โ a reminder that in Boljoon, families come home not just in body, but in heart, returning to a place where faith, love, and Maryโs guidance always await, welcoming her children with open arms.
