Today, we celebrate the people whose words have guided us through lessons, challenges, and moments when we needed a little more encouragement.

Sa bawat “kaya mo ’yan,” bawat paalala, at bawat aral na iniwan ninyo sa amin, may mensaheng hindi basta-basta nakakalimutan.

Thank you for the patience you give, the lessons you share, and the countless ways you remind us that we can do better and become better.

Some words are heard only for a moment, but the lessons behind them can stay with us for a lifetime.

This September 28, we celebrate World News Day by recognizing the journalists and media professionals who remain committed to keeping the public informed through accurate, responsible, and meaningful reporting.

In a time when information travels faster than ever, journalism reminds us of the importance of pausing, verifying, and looking beyond the surface. It gives communities a platform to be heard, brings important issues to light, and helps people make sense of the world around them.

For aspiring communicators, World News Day is more than a celebration it is a reminder of the responsibility that comes with every story we tell. We do not simply deliver information; we contribute to how people understand, engage with, and respond to the world.

The 𝗕𝗔 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 of 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗦𝗨) arrived at Balanacan Port today, bound for 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗼, 𝗥𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗹 to participate in the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺’𝘀 𝗣𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗥𝗬𝗢 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹.

The three-day event will feature the following activities:

📍 September 28 — 𝗞𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, followed by a film screening

📍 September 29 — 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆

📍 September 30 — 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺

MarSU will compete alongside universities from across the region, with seven entries in the ARB category and six entries in the ARBO category.

The participation of MarSU BA Communication students provides an opportunity to showcase their creative work, gain film-related experience, and engage with fellow student filmmakers from across the MIMAROPA region.

The BA Communication students of Marinduque State University (MarSu) immersed themselves in the art of storytelling at the “𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗮 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗻𝘀” workshop on September 25, 2026 held at National Museum of the Philippines-Marinduque, Malusak, Boac, in celebration of Film Industry Month.

Through insightful sessions with industry experts—𝗠𝗿. 𝗝𝗮𝘆 𝗠. 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗮𝘀 on Documentary Filmmaking and 𝗠𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗼 𝗡. 𝗣𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗼 on Story Ideation and Pitching—these aspiring filmmakers honed their craft, learning how to transform local history, culture, and community narratives into compelling cinematic journeys.

By mastering the tools of visual storytelling, the next generation of communicators is stepping up to ensure that our rich heritage is not only remembered, but meaningfully preserved on screen for years to come.

The BA Communication program was represented by selected students and faculty members during the third day of the KBP Workshop held on September 25, 2026, at Bicol University in Legazpi City, Albay.

Day 3 featured a reporting workshop centered on the issues, concerns, and recommendations surrounding the KBP-Academe partnership.

The workshop, titled “𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀, 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗕𝗣-𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽,” was led by 𝗠𝘀. 𝗠𝗮. 𝗜𝘃𝘆 𝗔. 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼, KBP Standards Authority Director.

The session encouraged meaningful discussions and the sharing of ideas aimed at strengthening the connection between the academe and the broadcasting industry.

The activity provided the participants with valuable insights and an opportunity to engage in discussions relevant to their development as future communication and media professionals.

The selected students and faculty members of BA Communication program participated in the second day of the KBP Workshop on September 24, 2026 at Bicol University in Legazpi City, Albay.

The session focused on the standards and responsibilities in broadcasting, topics relevant to the courses Journalism Principles & Practices and Media Laws and Ethics.

𝗠𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝟱, titled “𝗞𝗕𝗣 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲,” was led by 𝗠𝗿𝘀. 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘇 𝗟. 𝗔𝗯𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼, Deputy Executive Director of KBP, with reactors 𝗠𝘀. 𝗠𝗮. 𝗜𝘃𝘆 𝗔. 𝗖𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 and 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝘆. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗞𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗩. 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗿𝗮, KBP Standards Authority Director.

The discussion provided the participants with a deeper understanding of broadcast code standards, proper complaint procedures, and the importance of compliance in maintaining responsible and ethical media practices.

The second day served as another opportunity for the students to gain practical knowledge and insights that can help prepare them for their future roles in the communication and media industry.

Selected students from Bachelor of Arts in Communication together with their teachers participated in the first day of the seminar-workshop titled “𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗴𝗲” on September 23, 2026, at Bicol University in Legazpi City, Albay.

The seminar commenced with welcome remarks from the KBP Chapter Clinic and University President Dr. Baby Boy Benjamin D. Nebres III of Bicol University.

The workshop covered topics such as building trustworthy broadcast content, journalism fundamentals, and the proper use of AI in the newsroom.

BA Communication faculty members Mr. Carl Ian S. Lagar, Mrs. Nonah Bianca L. Lasac, and Mr. Jerome L. Lingon accompanied the students. The seminar provided training intended to strengthen the students’ skills as globally competent communicators.
