Empowering the next generation of educators from the inside out! โœจ

On August 17, 2026, the College of Education successfully conducted a Pre-Deployment Seminar titled โ€œLast Minute Touch Ups: Pre-Deployment Seminar for Pre-Service Teachers on Safe Spaces Act, Anti-Sexual Harassment, Work Ethics, and Mental Health Awareness." The activity aims to equip a total of 107 pre-service teachers (12 males and 95 females) with the essential tools to safeguard their holistic development and confidently navigate the complexities of the teaching profession.

With the valuable insights shared by Dr. Keam Eric Malabayabas, Dean of the College of Governance, our future educators gained a deeper understanding of the Safe Spaces Act and Anti-Sexual Harassment Act. Armed with this knowledge, they are stepping into their field study ready to cultivate safe and respectful learning environmentsโ€”for themselves and their future students.

Huge thanks to the College of Education's GAD Coordinator, Dr. Willa Mae Paredes, strongly supported by their Dean, Dr. Susan Pineda along with the Faculty and Staff, for working together in making this seminar a resounding success.

To our pre-service teachers: as you embark on your classroom deployment, remember that protecting your mind and honoring your rights are just as vital as your lesson plans. You are now ready to make a difference!

Maging ang paggamit ng salitang โ€œofโ€ sa pangalan nito ay kinikilala ang women's participation and ownership of the bill.

Labing-pitong taon ng pagsusulong ng karapatang pantao ng bawat kababaihang Pilipino. Sama-sama tayo para sa mas maunlad, mas ligtas, mas malaya, at mas inklusibong Pilipinas. ๐Ÿ’œ

Did you know that August is officially observed as Breastfeeding Awareness Month in the Philippines?

Under Republic Act No. 10028, or the Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009, August of every year is designated nationwide as Breastfeeding Awareness Month. The law calls for a comprehensive national public education and awareness program to promote, protect, and support breastfeeding, including access to current and culturally appropriate lactation care and services

But beyond the policies and programs, breastfeeding itself is a complex process. Breast milk is more than a source of nutrients. Its composition is dynamic and can vary across lactation, during a single feeding, and according to the time of day.

Here are some interesting facts about breastfeeding:

1. Its composition can vary during a single feeding.
The fat content of breast milk generally increases as a feeding progresses. Milk toward the end of a feeding, often referred to as hindmilk, tends to contain more fat than milk at the beginning of the feeding, contributing to its energy density (World Health Organization [WHO], 2023).

2. Colostrum is different from mature breast milk.
Produced during the first few days after birth, colostrum is concentrated and particularly rich in immunoglobulins and other protective components that help support the newbornโ€™s developing immune system (WHO, 2023).

3. Breast milk contains more than nutrients.
In addition to carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals, human milk contains a wide range of bioactive components, including hormones, growth factors, immunoglobulins, human milk oligosaccharides, and other immunomodulatory substances (Department of Health [DOH], 2024).

4. Breast milk can vary throughout the day.
Some components of human milk show variation associated with circadian rhythms. Research has reported differences in certain nutrients and bioactive compounds according to the time of milk collection, although these patterns can vary between individuals and across components (WHO, 2023).

5. Breastfeeding provides benefits beyond infancy.
Breastfeeding is associated with a lower risk of several childhood infections and may provide longer-term health benefits. For mothers, longer durations of breastfeeding are associated with reduced risks of breast and ovarian cancers, among other health benefits (DOH, 2024).

National Breastfeeding Awareness Month serves as an opportunity to promote evidence-based information, strengthen support for breastfeeding mothers, and recognize breastfeeding as an important component of maternal and infant health.
