Message of Gratitude

As I formally conclude my term as Vice-President for Academic Affairs of Marinduque State University, I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire MarSU community. Serving in this capacity for the past 1.5 years has been both a profound honor and a meaningful journey filled with shared challenges, purposeful strides, and collective triumphs.

At the heart of all we have achieved is the unwavering spirit of collaboration and cooperation that each of you so generously extended. Your support and commitment allowed us to accomplish many significant milestones that strengthened the academic core of our beloved University.

One of the most defining achievements during our time together was MarSU’s debut at the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings—a historic feat that marks our institution’s emergence on the global stage as a contributor to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This recognition affirms our ongoing mission to deliver education that is not only locally relevant but globally responsive.

We also witnessed the expansion of MarSU’s international academic footprint through strategic engagements with global higher education institutions and organizations, in partnership with our International Relations and Linkages Office. These efforts have opened new opportunities for cross-border collaboration, academic mobility, and intercultural learning.

On the home front, we addressed long-standing needs by facilitating the provision of much-needed laboratory and office equipment across colleges—enhancing teaching and learning to better serve our students and faculty.

We are proud of the recognition from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for MarSU’s commendable licensure examination performance and our unwavering commitment to quality assurance. These national distinctions underscore our ability to stand shoulder to shoulder with the country's leading higher education institutions.

We likewise worked to strengthen compliance with CHED regulations through periodic program monitoring, content notation, and continual quality improvement. These are critical mechanisms to ensure that we uphold the standards of higher learning while preparing our students to thrive in an evolving academic landscape.

Our administration also introduced incentives to support licensure examinees, giving our graduates tangible encouragement to succeed. We initiated policy reviews that will shape the future direction of our academic services and laid down the foundation for the introduction of new academic programs to meet the growing aspirations of our young Marinduqueños.

None of these would have been possible without your trust, collaboration, and shared vision. I am grateful for every dean, faculty member, academic and administrative staff, and student who walked alongside me in this journey.

As I step down from this role, I call upon the entire MarSU community to rally behind Associate Professor Dr. Leodegario M. Jalos, Jr., who now takes the helm as Vice-President for Academic Affairs. I am confident that under his leadership, Academic Affairs will soar to greater heights.

With gratitude and pride, I thank you all. May we continue to serve Marinduque State University with excellence, integrity, and purpose.

Thank you very much. Maraming Salamat!

As we celebrate the 73rd Founding Anniversary of Marinduque State University, we honor a legacy rooted in humble beginnings as the Marinduque School of Arts and Trades. From its early days of providing vocational education, it has grown into a beacon of learning, evolving into the Marinduque Institute of Science and Technology, then Marinduque State College, and now a full-fledged State University. This remarkable transformation reflects the unwavering commitment of the institution to respond to the changing needs of the province, the region, and the nation.

Each milestone in our history is a testament to the vision, sacrifice, and collective effort of those who came before us—our educators, leaders, partners, and students. Marinduque State University Kicks Off 1st Day of 2025 Faculty In-Service Training with Focus on Outcomes-Based Instructional Materials

Boac, Marinduque — June 18, 2025

Marinduque State University (MarSU) officially launched its Faculty In-Service Training (FInSET) 2025 with the successful conduct of its first day of activities on June 18, 2025, gathering faculty members (Instructors I to Assistant Professors IV) across campuses for a full-day learning and development engagement.

The program opened with a warm welcome address from Ms. Erma E. Reyes, Head of the Human Resource Management Unit, who emphasized the importance of continuous professional development among faculty in the context of the university’s pursuit of academic excellence and global competitiveness. Ms. Reyes also underscored that the training is part of the HRM Unit’s commitment to equipping educators with updated skills and strategies responsive to the ever-evolving needs of learners.

Delivering the official message of the University President, Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta, was Vice President for Administration and Finance, Atty. Crispin Francis M. Jandusay. In his address, Atty. Jandusay relayed Dr. Zulueta’s call for all educators to embody the role of catalysts for transformation and to align instructional practices with MarSU’s mandate for quality, inclusive, and future-ready education.

The highlight of the day was the lecture-discussion led by Dr. Josephine M. Calamlam, Professor III from the Faculty of Education Sciences of the Philippine Normal University. Dr. Calamlam delivered an insightful talk on the “Development of Pedagogically-Sound, Learner-Centered, and Outcomes-Based Instructional Materials”—a timely and essential topic aimed at reinforcing MarSU’s outcomes-based education framework.

In the afternoon session, participants engaged in guided development workshops where they applied the concepts discussed by Dr. Calamlam in creating their own instructional materials. The day concluded with a presentation of outputs from selected participants, showcasing innovative, learner-responsive designs reflective of the training objectives.

Day 1 of the FInSET marks a strong start to MarSU’s efforts in enhancing faculty capabilities in instructional design, reinforcing the university’s dedication to excellence in teaching, learning, and service.
