Marinduque State University joins the nation in honoring the courage and sacrifice of Benigno โ€œNinoyโ€ Aquino Jr., whose life and legacy continue to inspire the Filipino people in their pursuit of democracy and freedom.

In accordance with Republic Act No. 9256 (2004) and Proclamation No. 1006, Series of 2025, August 21, 2026 has been declared a special non-working holiday to commemorate Ninoy Aquino Day.

Classes and office transactions at MarSU are suspended in observance of this holiday. Regular operations will resume on Monday, August 24, 2026.

The Department of Science and Technologyโ€“MIMAROPA (DOST-MIMAROPA) formally opened the 2026 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) with simultaneous ceremonies across the region, highlighting the role of science and digital innovation in strengthening food security, sustainable energy, and national resilience.

The central opening program, livestreamed from Romblon, began with a cultural putong ritual rendered by TORMEA, LGU Torrijos Putong Group, symbolizing unity and respect.

Vice Mayor Hon. Edmar Frias of Torrijos delivered the welcome message, emphasizing collaboration and innovation as drivers of community progress. Representing the Governor, Mr. Juan Fernandez, Jr., Department Head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), conveyed the Governorโ€™s support for science and technology initiatives in the province.

A highlight of the ceremony was the turnover of containers for the water desalination system in Maniwaya, a project designed to address potable water needs in island communities. Hon. Analiza C. Romasanta, Punong Barangay of SB Maniwaya, expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting its transformative impact on local livelihoods.

The first day featured sessions showcasing community-based technologies and environmental innovations: FISH-I Technology for fisheries monitoring; ItikPINAS Technology for sustainable duck production; and Coral Fragment Planting Orientation using artificial reef blocks to restore marine ecosystems.

The second day highlighted research excellence and sustainability through a series of presentations: Destination MIMAROPA: From Research Excellence to Shared Stewardship; Our Precious Earth: Science and Stewardship and Our Quest for Environmental Sustainability in Marinduque; Bamboo 101: Nature-Based and Practical Solutions for Sustainability; Solar Community Meetup: Powering Marinduque Businesses Through Solar and Finance; and One-Minute Creative Video Contest showcasing youth innovation.

Special recognition was given to LGU Torrijos led by Hon. Joey Peรฑaflor and Marinduque State University (MarSU), under the support and commitment of University President, Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta, for their partnership with DOST-MIMAROPA in implementing STI initiatives and ensuring the success of Marinduqueโ€™s regional celebration.

Marinduque State University, representing Marinduque province, proudly emerged as Champion in the HANDA MIMAROPA Resilience Innovation Challenge 2026 during the MIMAROPA Resilience Innovation Championship, held as part of the DOST Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) 2026.

Carrying the banner of innovation and resilience, Team RESQ 2.0 from the College of Information and Computing Sciences showcased their winning entry โ€” Automated Grid for Alert Preparedness (AGAP) System). The team is composed of Genroj Louise J. Laguna, Jessica Niduaza, and Andrea L. Calalang, under the supervision of Mr. Christopher J. Rebistual, and accompanied in the event by Ms. Doreena Joy C. Borja.

The awarding ceremony was held on August 17, 2026 at La Marietta Events Place in Romblon, with the theme โ€œScience, Technology & Digital Innovation: Driving Food Security, Sustainable Energy & National Resilience.โ€

This victory was made possible through the steadfast leadership of University President Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta and the support of College of Information and Computing Sciences Dean Dr. Ronjie Mar L. Malinao, whose guidance continues to inspire MarSU students to excel in innovation and resilience.

MarSUโ€™s triumph not only highlights the universityโ€™s excellence in science and technology but also underscores Marinduqueโ€™s growing role in championing resilience and sustainable innovation across the MIMAROPA region and the nation.

Marinduque State University (MarSU) held its regular Monday Flag-Raising Ceremony, hosted by the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA). The program also highlighted the universityโ€™s observance of ASEAN Month 2026, with the theme: โ€œAnchored in Unity: One Vision, One Identity, One Community.โ€

MarSU President Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta expressed his support for the observance and emphasized the universityโ€™s continuing efforts toward internationalization and stronger partnerships with ASEAN institutions.

CBA students presented a flash mob performance featuring the CBA Hymn as a special number during the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Hon. Carmencita D. L. Laus, Member of the MarSU Board of Regents and President of the Marinduque State University Alumni Federation Incorporated (MarSUAFI), delivered an inspirational message encouraging students to define success not only through personal achievements but also through their ability to help others and make a meaningful difference in their lives.

The ceremony concluded with the singing of the MarSU Hymn, performed by the MarSU Brass Band.
