Established on 08 June 1981 as Cawit Barangay High School by virtue of the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) Permit No. 05, s. 1981. Its founding was made possible through the collective efforts of the Sangguniang Barangay of Cawit, headed by Barangay Captain Hon. Cesar M. Luzares, together with the local community. The Bagong Lipunan School Building of Cawit Elementary School served as its first classroom, while makeshift classrooms were constructed nearby to ensure the continuity of school operations.

A total of 72 learners were enrolled during its first school year (1981–1982), with Luz M. Ornos as the pioneer teacher, supported by several teachers from Cawit Elementary School. Rosalia J. Lozano, then principal of Cawit Elementary School, supervised the operations of Cawit Barangay High School from 1981 to 1986. The school produced its first graduates during School Year 1984–1985.

The school obtained its permanent campus through the initiative of the Sangguniang Barangay of Cawit, under Barangay Captain Hon. Arcadio Mendeja, and Hon. Pedrito “Toto” Nepomuceno, OIC Mayor of Boac, who facilitated the purchase of a 1,261-square-meter lot from Teodorico Ornedo on 05 March 1987. Subsequent land purchases and donations followed.

The school was later converted into Cawit National Comprehensive High School by virtue of Republic Act No. 7710, which lapsed into law on 05 May 1994, pursuant to the State’s goal of making education free and accessible to all.

𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐃𝐀𝐘 | 𝐌𝐚𝐲 5, 1994

With the enactment of Republic Act No. 7710, Cawit High School was officially converted into Cawit National Comprehensive High School—a milestone shaped by the education reforms of the early 1990s.

This transformation reflected the Philippine government’s drive to expand access to quality secondary education, decentralize learning opportunities, and strengthen public schools in the countryside. These were the key goals during a period of national education revitalization that followed the creation of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) and the push for comprehensive high schools nationwide.

Today, we honor this moment in history that laid the foundation for broader academic programs, inclusive learning, and community-centered education—continuing the legacy of reform, service, and excellence.
