Numeron.
Supported by CENROโLGU led by Forester Floilan F. Arcitas, together with three Bantay Dagat personnel, the group established 10 ร 10 m plots with four replicates per zone across seaward, middle, and landward areas.
Measurements of tree diameter and height were taken, alongside species identification of mangrove stands, to estimate the above-ground blue carbon stock. Prior to this activity, the students conducted a survey in nearby communities to gather data on their awareness of mangrove conservation and their willingness to support related initiatives.
This field activity highlights the Departmentโs continuing commitment to research-based learning, community collaboration, and science-informed mangrove management.

๐ฒโจ Empowering Future Foresters Through Drone Technology! โจ๐ฒ
The field of forestry continues to evolveโand so do we. To strengthen modern approaches in forest monitoring, planning, and conservation, a Training Workshop on Basic Flight Planning and Aerial Photogrammetry using Drone Technology was successfully conducted last November 27โ28, 2025 at the 3rd Floor Admin Building, NEMSU Bislig Campus.
Through this activity, participants explored how drones and aerial photogrammetry can transform traditional forest surveys by providing real-time, accurate, and high-resolution spatial data. From mapping forest landscapes to supporting reforestation planning, wildfire monitoring, and biodiversity assessment, drone technology is now an essential tool in sustainable forest management.
Facilitated by For. Genevieve A. Vergara and For. Chille T. Usa, and welcomed by Campus Director Whelson C. Pasos, the workshop equipped all 2nd year Forestry students with hands-on knowledge in flight planning, data acquisition, image processing, and the interpretation of photogrammetric outputs.
A special appreciation to our resource speaker, Mr. Michael Jeremiah R. Mativo, GIS Specialist/Remote Sensing Technologist of DENR-Caraga, for sharing his expertise and inspiring future foresters to embrace innovation and digital tools in the field.
๐๐ Together, we move toward science-based, technology-driven, and sustainable forest management.

November 8โ9 | Lawigan, Lingig, Surigao del Sur
The ecotourism activity at Lawigan Resort last November 8โ9 emphasized practical learning and responsible tourism. Under the instruction of For. Charry Mae S. Numeron, students from 3rd year section B completed activities that strengthened their understanding of sustainable site management.
Carrying Capacity Assessment โ identifying the maximum number of visitors the resort can responsibly accommodate.
AI-Assisted Resort Designing โ using AI tools to generate eco-friendly and functional resort layout concepts.
Data Interpretation Session โ analyzing site data to guide decisions and support sustainable planning.
Afterwards, students had their get together and other fun activities.
These activities reinforced the importance of using science, technology, and data to protect natural areas while allowing tourism to grow responsibly. The experience highlighted that sustainable development is achievable when environmental limits are respected and decisions are grounded in evidence.
