The Forestry Department of North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) – Bislig Campus successfully conducted its 𝙳𝚎𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚊𝚕 𝙾𝚛𝚒𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝙵𝚒𝚛𝚜𝚝 𝚂𝚎𝚖𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝚘𝚏 𝙰𝚌𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚖𝚒𝚌 𝚈𝚎𝚊𝚛 𝟸𝟶𝟸𝟼–𝟸𝟶𝟸𝟽 𝚘𝚗 𝙰𝚞𝚐𝚞𝚜𝚝 𝟷𝟿, 𝟸𝟶𝟸𝟼, 𝚊𝚝 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝙽𝙴𝙼𝚂𝚄–𝙱𝚒𝚜𝚕𝚒𝚐 𝙾𝚙𝚎𝚗 𝙶𝚢𝚖𝚗𝚊𝚜𝚒𝚞𝚖.

With the theme, “𝒩𝓊𝓇𝓉𝓊𝓇𝒾𝓃ℊ ℱ𝓊𝓉𝓊𝓇ℯ ℱℴ𝓇ℯ𝓈𝓉ℯ𝓇𝓈 𝒻ℴ𝓇 𝒮𝓊𝓈𝓉𝒶𝒾𝓃𝒶𝒷𝓁ℯ ℱℴ𝓇ℯ𝓈𝓉 ℳ𝒶𝓃𝒶ℊℯ𝓂ℯ𝓃𝓉,” the activity brought together BS Forestry students, faculty members, staff, and university officials in a meaningful gathering aimed at strengthening unity, discipline, academic responsibility, and commitment to the forestry profession.

The program opened with a prayer, the National Anthem, and the NEMSU Hymn, followed by the presentation of the University's 𝓥𝓲𝓼𝓲𝓸𝓷, 𝓜𝓲𝓼𝓼𝓲𝓸𝓷, 𝓖𝓸𝓪𝓵𝓼, 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓠𝓾𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓽𝔂 𝓟𝓸𝓵𝓲𝓬𝔂. The activity also featured a Unity Dance, acknowledgment of participants, welcome remarks, and an inspirational message from the College of Agriculture and Forestry.

The orientation proper provided students with important information and reminders concerning:

📚Grading System and Academic Performance
⏰ Attendance, Absences, and Punctuality
🏅 Honors and Awards
📋 Scholastic Delinquency and Clearance
🤝 Student Responsibilities and Departmental Expectations

The activity emphasized that becoming a competent forester goes beyond academic knowledge. It requires discipline, integrity, responsibility, teamwork, professionalism, and a strong commitment to the sustainable management and protection of our forest resources.

The Forestry Department extends its appreciation to the university officials, faculty and staff, and BS Forestry students who actively participated in and supported this meaningful activity.

May this orientation serve as a strong foundation for a productive and successful semester. Together, let us continue to learn, grow, serve, and protect our forests for generations to come.

Due to the high heat index in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur and in compliance with the City Memorandum, the Adding of NSTP Subject for First-Year Students will be moved to August 17, 2026 (Monday).

IN PHOTOS | BARBOLAVA PLAS – Biodiversity Monitoring System (BMS) 2026 🌿🤝

Protecting biodiversity begins with collaboration. The 2nd Semester CY 2026 Biodiversity Monitoring System (BMS) brought together representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)–CENRO Bislig, North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU)–Bislig Campus, Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bislig, and the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Valencia for biodiversity monitoring and stakeholder engagement within the Barcelona–Bongan–Lawigan–Valencia Protected Landscape and Seascape (BARBOLAVA PLAS).

Representing NEMSU–Bislig Campus, Forester Jun Mark Tomas actively participated in the field activities conducted along the 2.5-kilometers transect line in Brgy. Maribojoc, Valencia, Lingig, Surigao del Sur, contributing to science-based conservation efforts and strengthening partnerships for the sustainable management of our protected areas.

Following the field monitoring activities, participants also engaged in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to exchange insights, discuss key biodiversity monitoring findings, identify conservation challenges, and strengthen collaborative strategies for the effective protection and sustainable management of the BARBOLAVA PLAS.

Every step in the field and every meaningful discussion is an investment in a greener and more resilient tomorrow. 🌱

"Influence of Vermicast and Rice Hull on the Early Growth and Development of Musa textilis Seedlings," explores environmentally friendly soil amendments that enhance the early growth and vigor of abaca seedlings—supporting more sustainable fiber production and agricultural resilience.
