Strengthening Coordination for Project WELDT

Another discussion with Mr. Keanu D. Sanchez, Indigenous Peoples (IP) Youth Representative of the Manobo Tribal Council of Sote and Baguis (MATRICOSOBA), was held as part of the continuing preparations for the implementation of the WELDT Project. The exchange provided an opportunity to align plans for the upcoming MOA signing and the schedule of the project’s planned activities.

The discussion was led by Project Leader Dr. Myrna T. Alferez, together with Project Member Dr. Sheila B. Caberte and GEC Extension Coordinator Mr. Cristian John B. Urtola, with Extension Staff Mr. John Rio L. Prones, and the full support of the Extension Services and Linkages Office, headed by Ms. Ivy L. Archua, RSW, JD, with Joebemarie V. Obligado, University Extension Associate I.

With appreciation to MATRICOSOBA for its support and continued engagement, the project team looks forward to putting Project WELDT into action within the community and working together toward meaningful and responsive initiatives for the Indigenous Peoples community.

Project WELDT Moves Forward Through Meaningful Consultation

The Project WELDT (Wo-Men Empowerment through Livelihood and Digital Training) of NEMSU–Bislig Campus continues to move forward through a Pre-Free, Prior and Informed Consent (Pre-FPIC) discussion with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) – Bislig City Service Center (CSC).

The discussion was joined by Mr. Jonard B. Benito, Community Affairs Officer I, together with the Project Leaders and Members from the General Education Curriculum (GEC)—Dr. Myrna T. Alferez, Project Leader; Mr. RVGLEN Cubarol, Project Member; Mr. Cristian John B. Urtola, GEC Extension Coordinator; and Dr. Sheila B. Caberte of the Engineering Department, Project Member—with the full support of the Extension Services and Linkages Office.

The Pre-FPIC discussion provided an avenue for consultation, dialogue, and informed participation, strengthening the partnership between NEMSU–Bislig Campus and NCIP toward a culturally responsive, inclusive, and community-centered implementation of Project WELDT.

The Extension Services and Linkages Office of NEMSU–Bislig Campus held a meeting with the City Planning and Development Office of Bislig City to explore possible collaboration on impact assessment initiatives for the University's extension projects.

The discussion was joined by Ms. Shobe L. Salazar, Assistant City Planning and Development Coordinator, and Ms. Jeanne Chrizzelle B. Castillo, Project Evaluations Officer III, from the City Planning and Development Office, together with Ms. Ivy L. Archua, Extension Head, and Ms. Joebemarie V. Obligado, University Extension Associate I, from the NEMSU–Bislig Extension Services and Linkages Office.

The meeting explored potential areas of partnership and coordination to strengthen the assessment of extension project outcomes and community impact.

NEMSU–Bislig and FWRDEC Continue Building Stronger Partnerships

NEMSU–Bislig Campus, through the Extension Services and Linkages Office and the Forestry Department, held a follow-up meeting with the Forest and Wetland Research, Development and Extension Center (FWRDEC) for the presentation of the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and an Impact Assessment Consultation. The discussion focused on impact assessment initiatives, extension activities, research-related concerns, and potential areas for future collaboration.

The meeting brought together FWRDEC, led by Mr. Amildasa D. Annil, Center Head, along with Ms. Wilma P. Bayaron, Mr. Joel Orella, Ms. Sharon P. Alvez, Mr. Mhar O. Loquez, and Ms. Flora Mie M. Bela-Ong. From NEMSU–Bislig were Ms. Ivy L. Archua, Extension Head; Ms. Joebemarie V. Obligado, University Extension Associate I; For. Melchora B. Baculinao, Forestry faculty; and For. Genevieve A. Vergara, Forestry Extension Coordinator.

📌 NEMSU–Bislig Extension Services and Linkages Office Conducts 3rd Quarter Meeting

Extension Coordinators, Program Heads, Project Leaders, and Extension Assistants convened at the NEMSU–Bislig Library for the 3rd Quarter Meeting to discuss strategic plans, budget utilization, project development, impact assessment, and other priorities for the University's extension programs.

The meeting was led by Ms. Ivy Lindo Archua, Extension Head, together with Ms. Nestle Reyes Amuray, University Extension Specialist III/Cluster Head, and Ms. Joebemarie Viola Obligado, University Extension Associate I, with the support of For. Whelson C. Pasos, Campus Director, and Dr. Lourdes L. Bauya, Assistant Campus Director.

Through meaningful discussions and collaborative planning, the meeting laid the groundwork for more impactful and responsive extension projects.

Project ReBaSe Wraps Up with Stronger Skills for Better Public Service

The Department of General Teacher Training (DGTT), Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English of NEMSU–Bislig Campus, successfully concluded the implementation of extension Project ReBaSe: Retooling Barangay Secretaries, benefiting the Barangay Secretaries from the 24 barangays of Bislig City.

The culmination activity was attended and fully supported by the Campus Director, For. Whelson C. Pasos, together with Dr. Cristine G. Ombao, Project Leader, and the Project Members: Dr. Lourdes L. Bauya, Dr. Lovella C. De Ramos, Dr. Lorly P. Caperida and Ms. Beverly Love M. Rebosura, along with the Extension Services and Linkages Office, represented by Ms. Ivy L. Archua, Extension Head, Ms. Joebemarie V. Obligado, Extension Associate I, and Ms. Janice M. Gantala, Extension Assistant.

Mr. Julius C. Calipong led the session on Telephone and E-mail Etiquette and Communication Technology Use (Digital Literacy), equipping the participating Barangay Secretaries with practical communication and digital skills for more effective public service.

The activity concluded with the awarding of certificates to the participating Barangay Secretaries in recognition of their active participation and commitment throughout the training.

NEMSU–Bislig Campus extends its heartfelt appreciation to all participating Barangay Secretaries, the Resource Speaker, partner agencies, and everyone who contributed to the successful implementation of Project ReBaSe. Together, we continue to build stronger communities through collaboration and capacity-building.
