While the school corridors have fallen silent for the End-of-School-Year (EOSY) break, Teacher III Aqueliza Guadiz is far from absentโchoosing to spend part of her break in the school garden, not as an obligation, but as something she genuinely enjoys and finds meaningful.
Armed with a water sprinkler, Ma'am Guadiz spends her mornings tending to the bustling life of the school garden. For her, the break is not a departure from duty, but a shift in environmentโmoving from the chalkboards of the classroom to the fertile soil of the campus. She also finds comfort in the simple act of getting her hands dirty, cultivating and caring for the plants as part of a process she is truly passionate about.
"The plants donโt know itโs a vacation," she shared while clearing weeds from a row of seedlings. "If we leave them now, all the hard work the students and teachers put in during the school year will wither away. We are growing more than just food here; we are maintaining a legacy of sustainability."
