The FEU Mathematics Society presents its analysis of the results of the FEU Student Elections 2026, with particular focus on the implementation of Article IX, Section 6 of the Omnibus Election Code released by the FEU Commission on Elections.

Out of the 𝟓𝟏 proclaimed candidates who participated in the elections, 𝟐𝟑 were unable to meet the required 𝟐𝟎% vote threshold, without the inclusion of abstention votes in the overall tally.

In light of these results, the organization calls for clarification regarding the electoral processes, specifically on how the aforementioned provision was interpreted and enforced during the conduct of the elections.

Held on April 13, 2026 at Admissions Building Room 207-B, the seminar marked the official launch of MathSoc’s polling coverage, emphasizing the importance of accurate and reliable data in understanding voter behavior and shaping election outcomes within the FEU community.

The event was further enriched by the insights of guest speaker 𝐓𝐞𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐟𝐨 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐳, who shared valuable perspectives on the role of data-driven analysis and responsible polling in promoting transparency and informed decision-making during elections.

𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐆𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐬: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 📊

On this day, 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟑𝟎, we commemorate the birth of Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777–1855), one of history’s most influential mathematicians whose contributions continue to shape the field of statistics and probability.

Among his many groundbreaking works is the concept of the 𝐆𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, more commonly known as the 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. This continuous probability distribution is recognized for its distinct bell-shaped curve, illustrating how data points tend to cluster around the mean, with fewer observations appearing farther from it.

The Gaussian distribution remains fundamental in statistical analysis, data interpretation, and predictive modeling, serving as a cornerstone of modern mathematics and data science.

Through Gauss’ enduring legacy, we are reminded of how mathematical principles continue to connect patterns, explain realities, and empower data-driven understanding.

𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐎𝐧, 𝐖𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝟐 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬!

We are now launching the 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐯𝐞 of FEU University’s official polling coverage, 𝐓𝐀𝐌𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔. This survey is open from 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟔 until 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐, at 𝟏𝟏:𝟓𝟗 𝐏𝐌. The campaign period for the FEU Central Student Organization, Institute Councils, and Academic Organizations is now ongoing, with the official list of candidates finalized.

𝐖𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝟐 centers on determining changes in students' preferences in response to the political climate at the start of the campaign period. Whether their preferences have strengthened, shifted, or remained consistent, as students become more engaged with the candidates. The survey focuses on the FEU Central Student Organization and Institute Councils, where respondents will be asked to choose their 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 for each position across the various organizations. With this, we hope to monitor shifting voting behavior and obtain insight into how student attitudes are evolving as elections approach.
