MOST-BARMM Distributes STAR Books to MSU Binidayan CHS and 7 Other Schools in Lanao del Sur

The Ministry of Science and Technology - Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOST-BARMM) formally turned over sets of Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based (STAR) Books to MSU Binidayan Community High School and seven other recipient schools on June 4, 2026.

The ceremonial turnover was held at MSU Marantao Community High School and was led by officials of MOST-BARMM. Prof. Cayambae Diator received the STAR Book collection on behalf of MSU Binidayan CHS.

The distribution forms part of MOST-BARMM’s ongoing program to enhance science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in the region by providing public secondary schools with updated, research-based learning materials.

In her remarks, AVC Dr. Samsia M. Paitao -Dumrang, expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s continued support to MSU-affiliated schools. “The STAR Books will serve as vital references for our faculty and students, and will significantly strengthen our efforts to promote scientific inquiry and academic excellence,” she stated.

MOST-BARMM reiterated its commitment to equipping Bangsamoro learners with quality resources to foster innovation and research culture among the youth.

The eight beneficiary schools, including MSU Binidayan CHS, each received complete sets of STAR Books covering various STEM disciplines. The event was attended by school administrators, teachers, and representatives from partner institutions.

STARBOOKS (Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS) is an interactive, standalone digital library created by the Department of Science and Technology - Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) of the Philippine government. It was specifically designed to provide free access to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) information without the need for an internet connection.

Innovation met purpose as young researchers from MSU–Binidayan Community High School stepped into the spotlight during the 3rd MSU External Units Research Congress, proving that meaningful ideas can emerge from the most unexpected materials.

Among the presenters, 𝙼𝚜. 𝚁𝚊𝚗𝚎𝚎𝚖 𝙰. 𝙰𝚗𝚠𝚊𝚛 distinguished herself by earning 3rd Place in Best Paper for Poster Presentation, a recognition that reflects both scientific rigor and creative thinking. Her study, “Developing an Eco-Friendly Rice-Waste-Based Adhesive: Formulation and Mechanical Performance on Light-Scale Materials and Comparison with Commercial White Glue,” explores a sustainable alternative to conventional adhesives—transforming agricultural waste into a functional, eco-conscious solution.

Raneem’s work stands as a testament to how local resources, when paired with research and innovation, can address global concerns on sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Alongside her were fellow student researchers Najma Mampao and Fatma Sarip, whose courage and determination in presenting their research exemplified the growing culture of inquiry among MSU–Binidayan learners. Their participation alone marked a significant step toward nurturing future scientists and innovators within the community.

Behind this achievement is the steadfast guidance of their research adviser, Sir Nurhalid Abdul, and co-adviser, Ma’am Johanizah Abdullah, whose mentorship played a crucial role in shaping the study from concept to completion. Their commitment to fostering research excellence continues to empower students to pursue impactful academic endeavors.

This milestone is more than a win—it is a celebration of curiosity, collaboration, and the power of youth-driven innovation. As MSU–Binidayan continues to cultivate research-minded learners, stories like Raneem’s remind us that the future of science is already taking shape—one idea at a time.
