π΅π NINOY AQUINO DAY | AUGUST 21, 2026
Today, we remember Benigno βNinoyβ Aquino Jr., a senator, journalist, and prominent opposition leader whose life became closely associated with the Filipino struggle for freedom and democracy.
On August 21, 1983, Ninoy returned to the Philippines after years of political exile in the United States. He was assassinated upon his arrival at the Manila International Airport. His death sparked widespread public outrage and became a defining moment in the movement that eventually led to the 1986 People Power Revolution.
Ninoy chose to return to his homeland despite the dangers he faced. His courage and sacrifice continue to remind us of the value of truth, freedom, justice, and democratic principles.
As we commemorate Ninoy Aquino Day, may we remember not only how he died, but also what he stood forβand what his sacrifice continues to ask of every Filipino.
βThe Filipino is worth dying for.β
May his legacy inspire us to become responsible citizens who stand for what is right and contribute to a better Philippines. π΅π
Let us remember. Let us learn. Let us uphold freedom.
