🔬 HIYAS Science Club Kicks Off S.Y. 2026–2027 with Team Building and Committee Formation! 🌱

The Honing Imaginative Youths through Amazing Science (HIYAS) Science Club officially launched its club activities for School Year 2026–2027 with an afternoon filled with energy, teamwork, and collaboration.

Grade 7 and Grade 8 members participated in an exciting Spelling Race, where they worked together to solve word challenges, sharpen their scientific vocabulary, and strengthen communication skills. The activity was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and enthusiastic participation, creating an atmosphere where learning and fun went hand in hand.

Following the team-building activity, members gathered for a planning session to discuss the club's Action Plan and organize themselves into committees that will lead the club's major programs and activities throughout the school year. Committees were formed for:
🧪 Quiz Bee
🔬 Science Investigatory Project
🤖 Robotics
⚗️ Laboratory Training

With teamwork as the foundation and science as our shared passion, the HIYAS Science Club is ready to take on another year of learning, innovation, leadership, and discovery.

Can a single drop of dishwashing liquid make pepper "run away"? 🤯

It may look like magic, but it's actually science in action! This simple experiment demonstrates surface tension—the invisible force that holds water molecules together. When dishwashing liquid touches the water, it breaks that surface tension, causing the pepper to race away from the center!

🏠 The best part? You can try this experiment at home using just a few everyday household materials.

🧅 Why do onions make us cry? 😭 It’s not because they hurt your feelings!

When you slice an onion, its cells break open and release sulfur-containing compounds. These react with enzymes to produce a gas called syn-propanethial-S-oxide. When the gas reaches your eyes, it mixes with your tears to form a mild irritant, causing your tear glands to produce more tears to wash it away. Science is at work—even in the kitchen! 🧪👩‍🍳
