MORNING TALK - September 16, 2026
Good morning, everyone!
As we celebrate the Mathematics and Science Month this September, we also welcome another exciting season of MathSciYa Season 6: "The Balance of Yin and Yang."
When we hear the word balance, what usually comes to mind? Perhaps standing on one foot without falling. Or balancing a pencil on your finger. Maybe balancing two objects on a weighing scale. But balance is much more than simply making two sides equal.
In Mathematics and Science, balance is one of the ideas that helps us understand how the world works. And this is what our MathSciYa Season 6 storyline, "The Balance of Yin and Yang," wants us to discover. It teaches us that seemingly opposite things can exist together and can complement one another. Light and darkness. Hot and cold. Motion and rest. Just like these, Mathematics and Science also help us understand how different forces, ideas, and quantities interact with one another.
So whether you are in Grade 1 or Grade 12, Mathematics and Science constantly remind us about the importance of balance. But perhaps the most important balance we need to learn is not found in a textbook. It is the balance we need in everyday life.
We need to balance study and rest. If we study all the time without resting, we become exhausted. But if we rest all the time without studying, we may not reach our goals.
We need to balance technology and real-life experiences. Our gadgets help us learn, communicate, and create. But we also need time to talk to our family, play with our friends, experience nature, and simply enjoy the world around us.
We need to balance competition and cooperation. It is good to strive for excellence. It is good to want to win. But we should never forget that our success should not come at the expense of others. And perhaps most importantly, we need to balance what we want with what we need. Life is not about choosing only one side.
Sometimes, the challenge is learning how two seemingly opposite things can work together. Balance does not mean that everything must always be equal or perfectly divided. Balance means knowing what is needed, understanding how things affect one another, and making adjustments when necessary.
As we journey through this month of September, may we discover that Mathematics and Science are not simply about formulas, equations, experiments, and answers. They are also about understanding relationships, making connections, and finding harmony in a world full of differences.
So, everyone, let us learn, explore, compete, cooperate, and discover together. Thank you for listening, and have a wonderful Math and Science Month!
