GOALS
The goals of this institution are adapted to the needs of the students and the community it serves. Immaculate Mother School of Bilar, Inc. aims to give well-rounded Catholic education that will develop the students physical, mental, spiritual, moral, and social well-being thus prepare them for whole-hearted service to society and the Church. To develop love for God through personal and communal prayers, Eucharistic celebrations and special devotions to Mary and St. To acquire basic skills , habits and attitudes in preparation for secondary and tertiary level of education;
3. To foster the spirit of inquiry, discovery, and initiative through meaningful and wholesome activity in the classroom;
4. To develop creativity, resourcefulness, and responsibility through art and work;
5. To develop psychomotor skills coordination through dance, play, and rhythmic activities;
6. To develop appreciation, patriotism, and love for country;
7. To form a faith –loving community among the students, parents, faculty, and staff;
8. To encourage parents’ involvement in all school activities and establish a strong partnership with them in the formation of their children;

10. To provide diverse ways of learning to meet the demands of an ever -changing society. HISTORY
Immaculate Mother School, Bilar, Bohol was conceived in March
2009. Annalisa A. Oracoy, O.P., the Vocation Directress of
the Dominican Daughters of the Immaculate Mother (DDIM) together
with two other vocation promoters from two different congregations
were in Bohol for a vocation promotion. She scheduled March 3
for her visit to interested college students from Bohol Island State
University (BISU) in Bilar. Their meeting place was at the San Isidro
Parish convent of Bilar whose parish priest was Rev. Fr. Marcelino
Biliran. Biliran was formerly assigned in Sta. Cruz Parish in
Maribojoc, Bohol where DDIM has a kindergarten school also named
Immaculate Mother School (IMS). He was very supportive of the
Sisters’ mission in Maribojoc and concerned about how the DDIM
can continue its presence in the diocese. It was on that day that Sr. Annalisa together with the two vocation
promoters had the chance to meet Fr. Biliran. Socorro C. Calzado, O.P., the Local Superior of Maribojoc community and Sr. Luningning H. Monteveros, O.P. the Principal of IMS, Maribojoc
went along with the group to Bilar. God truly works in mysterious
ways for in their sharing, together they unfolded God’s future plan
to extend DDIM’s mission in Bilar. Biliran knew right away who
could be of great help to realize God’s divine plan and continue the
Sisters’ noble work in the Diocese of Tagbilaran. He introduced Mrs. Corazon Jamisola Galbreath, a parishioner and benefactor who also
had wanted to have a Catholic School in the area. Mrs. Galbreath
warmly welcomed the Sisters’ idea by generously offering the family’s
vacant lot at the back of the parish church for the said project. Her
enthusiasm and generosity to cooperate was a manifestation of
God’s providential care to DDIM. Ercilla E. Barrozo, O.P., the Prioress General of DDIM and
her Council studied the possibility of opening an elementary school. She sent some Sisters to have more visits and communication with
Fr. Part of the parish rectory was offered by converting it
to simple classrooms as humble beginning to start the teaching
apostolate. Galbreath offered her house as the Sisters’ quasi
convent like Bethlehem where they could pray together and have
a place to lay their heads. Annalisa and Sr. Cecilia Colarte, O.P. were assigned as
pioneer administrators and teachers for Academic Year 2010-2011. Miss Estrelita L. Barajan, Ph.D., a parishioner of Bilar and schools’
District Supervisor helped in the supervision of the foundation. There
were eleven Grade 1 pupils enrolled and three Prep pupils at the
start. The Sisters had to balance religious life and apostolate in the
situation they were in. They were sent as part of the community of
Sisters in Maribojoc. Galbreath took care of the two Sisters in
her house and partly gave her share for their physical needs. At the dawn of February 2011, the Deed of Donation for the
school lot was signed by the heirs of Dionisio and Cresencia
Jamisola and was accepted by the newly elected DDIM Prioress
General, Sr. Maria Paz M. Dayap, O.P. The groundbreaking was set
in the afternoon of March 6, 2011 with the Bishop of Tagbilaran, Most. Rev. Leonardo Y. Medroso, D.D., JCL as the officiating prelate. The
initial construction of Phase I Building was started on June 2, 2011
through the help of the Sisters’ dear friend and benefactor the late
His Eminence Jose T. Cardinal Sanchez, Prefect Emeritus of the
Congregation for the Clergy and Secretary Emeritus of Propaganda
Fide. The building was designed by a dear friend and benefactor
of DDIM, Arct. Corazon R. Cruz, a professor of University of Sto. Tomas, College of Architecture & Fine Arts. Many other friends,
relatives and benefactors of DDIM generously contributed whether
in cash or in kind to help realize Immaculate Mother School, Bilar,
Bohol. For what lies ahead, IMS owes it all to God’s loving providence
and the intercession of Mother Mary its patroness and St. Joseph,
the provider.
