REGIONAL TRAINING OF ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM TEACHERS & IMPLEMENTERS ON THE ALS K TO 10 CURRICULUM
May 13-15, 2026, M. I. SEVILLA HOTEL, LUCENA CITY
I was skeptical before this training; Thinking that another antithetical document was about to surround the year. But I sussed out after diving into this activity, it would be a big help to teachers and learners. 💯
As a teacher and curriculum implementer my appreciation and gratitude to the developers and writers of this rationalized curriculum for the ALS learners. Maraming salamat po! 🙂✨
Now, the learning session is about to commence, let's play our cards right. 🤩

ASSESS: Designing Quality Assessment Items to Strengthen Aral-Based Interventions
February 25-27, 2026 @ Talisay, Batangas
We have just concluded our participation in the Division Seminar on Designing Quality and Effective Assessment Items for classroom interventions. This seminar strengthened our skills in developing effective and efficient test items that are guided by and aligned with curricular competencies. It enhanced our critical thinking and improved our ability to craft well-designed assessment tools. Here are the key techniques I relearned:
1. GIVE IMPORTANCE TO THE CLARITY OF THE QUESTION.
In crafting test items, technical language should not compromise clarity and precision. When a question is overly technical but unclear, it defeats the purpose of assessment. Clarity in questioning leads to better measurement of learning. Therefore, every test item must be carefully reviewed to ensure it is clear, concise, and aligned with the intended objective.
2. RAISE THE STANDARD OF QUESTIONS WITHOUT EXCEEDING THE LEARNERS’ LEVEL.
After crafting a question, we must ask ourselves: Does it align with the competency standards? and Does it appropriately challenge my students’ level of learning? Teachers should ensure that assessment items address learning gaps rather than create confusion. Questions should help bridge gaps in understanding, not discourage learners. The goal is to elevate thinking while remaining developmentally appropriate.
3. ELIMINATE THE GOOD; CHOOSE THE BEST.
In constructing multiple-choice questions, the options should follow the principle of “three good, one best.” The three distractors must be plausible and of similar quality, while one option should clearly be the best answer based on the given context. Since multiple-choice items include options A, B, C, and D, all choices should appear reasonable, but only one must fully meet the standard of correctness. This approach pushes learners to think critically and demonstrate what they have truly understood.
To sum it up, our test questions must not only align with classroom standards but also reflect the standards of national assessments. In doing so, we train our learners to think beyond their comfort zones. Stepping outside one’s comfort zone promotes deeper learning and prepares learners for real-life situations where critical thinking and sound judgment are essential.

JUST IN: A&E TEST WILL BE ON MARCH 29, 2026 (Sunday)
Empirical evidence:
Kahit naka aircon pa yang classroom, kung wala naman learners. Wala ring learning!

'Are We Really Learning, or Just Passing?'
When learning becomes something we do just to comply, to pass, not to grow. Are we losing what learning is really about? Wasn’t it meant to shape the way we live and help us choose what is good and right? Or have we reduced it to simply showing up, surviving the day, and passing the test?
