The centerpiece of the awarding was the Gawad Aklatan 2025: Search for the Most Functional Libraries. This prestigious search recognizes schools that demonstrate exceptional organization, innovative services, and maximized use of library resources.
Awards were presented to School Heads, Librarians, and Libraries-in-Charge whose efforts ensured their school libraries and library hubs remain active, vital learning hubs rather than mere book repositories.
Winners were recognized across various categories, including Elementary and Secondary schools, and Library Hubs. The competition motivates all schools to adhere to the standards of LIS professionalism, and as library advocates.

The Division also proudly recognized the winners of the numerous contests held during National Book Week and LIS Month, which aimed to make reading fun, creative, and relevant:
NBW/LIS Contests: Champions in categories such as the Pinoy Book Character Contest, Book-Face Photo Contest, Book Trailer Video Contest, BookTok, and Local Witty Lines Contest were celebrated for their imaginative and advocacy-driven entries.
LETS READ PM: Special recognition was given to the top 5 most effective implementers and advocates of the LETS READ PM project. This initiative focuses on developing critical thinking and mature reading habits, underscoring the Division's focus not just on what students read, but how they read.
The event was significantly enhanced by two key activities that solidified the link between education and external community support. The Generous Biofuels Book Donation, where SDO NV received a timely boost to its science curriculum through the ceremonial turnover of Biofuels books donated by Sir Miguel Patolot.
This donation provides schools with specialized and current reading materials on sustainable energy and environmental science, equipping learners with the knowledge necessary to engage with pressing global issues like climate change and renewable resources. The act underscores the profound impact of private sector support on public education.
A lively book fair, participated in by several prominent publishers, was concurrently held at the venue, which served as a convenient and direct avenue for school heads and librarians to update their resource collections. It allowed them to browse the latest textbooks, reference materials, and literary titles, ensuring that the excellence recognized in the Gawad Aklatan is sustained through continuous resource enrichment.
