𝑪𝑨𝑴𝑷𝑼𝑺 𝑯𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑳𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑻𝑺 | Stakeholders convene to advance shared school governance

To reaffirm their shared commitment to collaborative leadership and the effective implementation of school programs, projects, and activities at Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School (NVGCHS), stakeholders from various sectors convened for the organization and orientation of the School Governance Council (SGC) on July 28 at the Casa Alumni.

During the organizational meeting, Assistant School Principal Samuel K. Matabye served as the designated chairperson, after which the council elected Atty. Maria Victoria B. Martinez as its chairperson.

In her message, Secondary School Principal IV Dr. Luviminda M. Cordero welcomed the participation of representatives from the barangay council, the School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA) led by President Ronald Cel E. Madiam, representatives from the Office of Judge Ester Piscoso-Flor, and members of the School Management Team.

She underscored the importance of shared responsibility, teamwork, and accountability in achieving the school's goals and expressed optimism about working closely with local government officials and community partners to further strengthen school initiatives.

Meanwhile, Atty. Maria Victoria B. Martinez emphasized that the School Governance Council complements—not manages—the school's operations, explaining that its primary role is to support the implementation of the school's programs, projects, and activities through collaborative governance.

Furthermore, She also oriented members on the council's purpose, objectives, and functions and, together with Dr. Cordero and Dr. Virgilio P. Gragasin Jr., reviewed the school's Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) and School Improvement Plan (SIP) to identify areas where the council can effectively contribute.

The activity solidified the school's commitment to participatory governance by strengthening partnerships among school leaders, parents, local government representatives, and community stakeholders in support of quality education.

Selected members of the Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School (NVGCHS) campus publication, Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG), and other club officers participated in the inaugural orientation at the school's first-ever Radio Laboratory, gaining practical experience in radio broadcasting, news scriptwriting, and responsible reporting, July 27-28.

𝑪𝑨𝑴𝑷𝑼𝑺 𝑯𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑳𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑻𝑺 | NVGCHS fosters healthy living, environmental stewardship through 52nd Nutrition Month celebration

Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School (NVGCHS) promoted health education and environmental stewardship during the culmination of its 52nd Nutrition Month Celebration, encouraging healthy lifestyles and environmental responsibility among the members of the school community, July 27.

With the theme "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!", the celebration highlighted the connection between healthy living and environmental responsibility.

Emphasizing that preserving nature is essential to safeguarding human health, Secondary School Principal IV Dr. Luviminda M. Cordero encouraged learners to actively participate in activities that promote environmental protection and healthy lifestyles.

Bayombong I Public Schools District Supervisor Dr. Merlyn S. Abat called on learners to value both proper nutrition and environmental protection, emphasizing that a healthy community depends on a healthy environment.

To reinforce environmental responsibility, project proponent Voltaire S. Jacinto led an orientation on the enhanced SCOPE Program, detailing its implementation guidelines and the responsibilities of school personnel and learners.

Moreover, he also emphasized the importance of practicing the 5Rs and urged students to make campus cleanliness a daily habit by dedicating one minute to cleaning their surroundings.

The celebration also featured an Eco-Friendly Costume Parade, intermission performances, and the awarding of winners in various Nutrition Month competitions.

As part of the celebration, learners participated in a feeding program, supported by Precy Ong Marcos, and the "Salo-Salo for All" activity, where classes prepared healthy, balanced meals.

Through the strengthened implementation of the SCOPE Program and Nutrition Month activities, NVGCHS reaffirmed its commitment to promoting health awareness, environmental responsibility, and shared accountability in maintaining a clean, orderly, and sustainable school community.

𝑪𝑨𝑴𝑷𝑼𝑺 𝑯𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑳𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑻𝑺 | NVGCHS Multi-Purpose Cooperative holds General Assembly, unveils three-year development plan

Members of the Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School (NVGCHS) Multi-Purpose Cooperative gathered for the Cooperative General Assembly to discuss the organization's accomplishments, strategic direction, and future initiatives centered on transparency, accountability, and active member participation, July 25.

Glenda P. Mendoza opened the assembly by emphasizing that trust, inclusivity, unity, mutual respect, and collaboration are the foundations of a strong cooperative.

Secondary School Principal IV Dr. Luviminda M. Cordero, in her welcome remarks, introduced herself as a new member of the NVGCHS Multi-Purpose Cooperative and commended the cooperative for its regulatory compliance and adherence to good governance.

Introducing the guest speaker, Aloyda B. Calangan highlighted the power of collaborative action, emphasizing that collective effort is essential in achieving the cooperative's vision and sustaining its long-term growth.

Guest speaker Richard P. Cordero, Manager of the Magapuy Farmers Cooperative, challenged the cooperative to capitalize on its expanding membership by crafting a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the school administration and newly hired employees to facilitate their automatic membership in the cooperative.

Furthermore, he explained that such a move would strengthen the organization's sustainability and broaden its member base.

Emphasizing transparency and accountability as the foundation of cooperativism, Cordero encouraged the cooperative to establish incentive programs that recognize meritorious members and inspire stronger commitment among its membership.

Subsequently, Dr. Virgilio P. Gragasin Jr., Chairman of the Board of Directors led the presentation of the committees' reports and discussed the cooperative's proposed three-year development plan, a key requirement for the renewal of its registration.

The development plan focuses on improving lending operations, strengthening the rice loan program, enhancing the performance of the school canteen, expanding the student savings program, establishing a mortuary assistance fund, increasing membership participation, reinforcing governance and Gender and Development (GAD) initiatives, increasing assets and reserves, and boosting patronage and dividend distribution.

During the open forum, members were encouraged to continuously patronize the products and services of the NVGCHS Multi-Purpose Cooperative to sustain its operations and ensure its continued growth.

In her closing message, Dr. Cordero reminded members that belonging to the cooperative is more than a financial investment.

She further emphasized that being a member of the NVGCHS Multi-Purpose Cooperative reflects genuine concern for others, one's family, and the entire school community, reinforcing the cooperative's mission of promoting solidarity, shared responsibility, and sustainable development.

The assembly concluded with members reaffirming their commitment to support the cooperative's programs and initiatives as it continues to pursue sustainable growth and improved services for its members and the broader NVGCHS community.

BUILT TO RESPOND🚁

During a disaster, rescuers often make urgent decisions with limited information, especially when roads become impassable and communication lines fail.

A student from Nueva Vizcaya developed a possible tool for that challenge.

Vrienn Ezrah Karl Viernes of Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School created RAVEN, or the Robot for Aerial Vigilance in Emergency Navigation, a low-cost aerial system designed to support disaster-response operations.

The prototype was built to detect heat signatures, monitor environmental conditions, recognise possible calls for help, provide GPS coordinates, transmit real-time data, and send SMS alerts.

By gathering information from hazardous or hard-to-reach areas, it could help responders identify risks and determine where assistance may be needed.

RAVEN was named champion at the 2025 Regional Science and Technology Fair. Viernes later received the Best Presenter award in the Robotics and Intelligent Machines Individual Category at the 2026 National Science and Technology Fair.

The project remains a student-developed prototype, but its purpose addresses a serious need.

In a country frequently affected by typhoons, floods, and landslides, promising innovations like RAVEN deserve opportunities for further testing, technical support, and development beyond the competition stage.
