Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School (NVGCHS) reinforced its commitment to disaster preparedness as it participated in the 2nd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on Thursday, in partnership with local and provincial emergency response agencies.

The simulation assessed the school's emergency response mechanisms and enabled disaster management officials to evaluate existing preparedness measures and identify areas for further enhancement.

Prior to the drill, school officials held a series of pre-drill planning sessions to review safety protocols, designate evacuation areas, and assign personnel to key emergency response roles, ensuring an organized and efficient evacuation during the simulation.

Following the drill, representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) commended the school's efforts while offering recommendations to further strengthen its disaster readiness.

Among the suggestions raised were the provision of additional emergency equipment, improved evacuation signage, enhanced communication systems, continued first aid and emergency response training, and Incident Command System (ICS) training for school personnel.

School Principal IV Dr. Luviminda M. Cordero recognized the recommendations and emphasized the school's commitment to continuously improving its disaster preparedness measures.

By regularly conducting preparedness activities and collaborating with response agencies, NVGCHS continues to take a proactive role in strengthening campus safety and disaster readiness.

NVGCHS โ€” A Tradition of Excellence.

Today marks the day the Philippines declared its independenceโ€”a historic moment that reflected the courage, sacrifice, and collective aspiration of a people determined to shape their own destiny.

As we commemorate the 128th Philippine Independence Day, may it serve not only as a reminder of the struggles and sacrifices of those who fought for our freedom, but also of the continuing responsibility we bear as Filipinos. The pursuit of a free and prosperous nation did not end with the declaration of independence; it remains a challenge that every generation must confront.

More than a century later, our country continues to face issues that test our democracy and national progress. These challenges call on us not only to remember our history but also to actively participate in shaping a better future.

Let us remember that nation-building is a shared responsibility. By upholding truth, demanding accountability, respecting one another's voices, and working toward the common good, we contribute to the kind of Philippines our heroes envisioned and the future that generations to come deserve.

For independence is more than a date in historyโ€”it is a continuing pursuit of justice, dignity, and progress for all.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ Happy Philippine Independence Day.

In support of the Department of Education's nationwide initiative to promote learners' overall health and well-being, Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School (NVGCHS) shall conduct the Learners' Health Assessment and Screening (LHAS) as part of its structured Opening Block activities for School Year 2026โ€“2027.

Pursuant to DepEd Order No. 50, s. 2025, the LHAS aims to provide schools and parents with baseline health information that will enable timely support, referrals, and appropriate interventions. As a non-diagnostic screening program, it serves as an important first step in identifying learners who may require further healthcare services and support.

All learners are encouraged to actively participate in this important undertaking from Monday to Wednesday. Parents and guardians are likewise encouraged to cooperate and support the activity by providing accurate health information when needed.

Together, let us take a proactive step toward safeguarding every learner's health, ensuring that they are ready to learn, grow, and thrive.

Healthy learners build stronger futures and achieve holistic development.
