Muir Woods Academy Muir Woods Academy (pronounced /MYOOR WOODS/) is a mid-sized private K-12 school located in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. Muir Woods Academy, Inc.

It was founded in 2005 and was formally known as Nueva Vizcaya Bright Child School, Inc. or MWAI was founded in 2005 by Maria Theresa S. Basilio, as part of her mission to inspire greatness in the children of Nueva Vizcaya. The idea to put up a school that promoted intimate and progressive learning came to Mrs. Basilio a year into her franchise with Kumon, an afterschool Reading and Math Program that originated in Japan. Seeing Kumon students take charge of their own learning progress and excel in academic levels beyond their age inspired Mrs. Basilio to fully pursue a line of work that could provide more children the care and nurture they need for their development. As a mother of three children with varied personalities, interests, and talents, Mrs. Basilio saw the value of intimate manageable classrooms in providing each and every unique child with the attention they need to become the brightest they could be. Thus, Nueva Vizcaya Bright Child School, Inc. was born. By 2017, Bright Child had grown to a population of 519, housing its first batch of senior high school students who were already outgrowing the term “child.” The school itself was also maturing and evolving to apply a more distinct and unique education philosophy that applied across all grade levels. This is what earned the school its new name, “Muir Woods Academy, Inc.,” after the Muir Woods National Park, home of the famous Redwood Trees. It is the hope of Muir Woods Academy for both its students and faculty to experience the same united strength of the Redwood Trees, which are known for their strongly intertwined roots. It was scientifically investigated that the roots of older and wiser trees stretch out to connect to the roots of the younger ones, as if to tell them: “You will grow big and strong. Reach for the sky and we will help you get there. You have the strength of hundreds of trees in the forest because we are all connected. Our strength is shared together, and it grows together.”
This is the philosophy that the Muir Woods community aspires to achieve--to inspire each other’s greatness and to become each other’s strength.

On International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, we celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, knowledge, and heritage of Indigenous Peoples around the world.

Today, we honor their enduring contributions to our communities and recognize the importance of protecting their rights, ancestral lands, languages, and cultural heritage. Their stories, traditions, and wisdom are an invaluable part of our shared human history and identity.

May this day remind us to listen with respect, learn with humility, stand with solidarity, and help preserve Indigenous cultures for generations to come.

Different cultures, shared humanity. Every voice deserves to be heard, respected, and valued.

The MWAI Supreme Secondary Learner Government proudly congratulates Czaisha Faith P. Conol, a Grade 12 HUMSS learner and proud Muir Wolf, for representing Barangay Busilac with grace, courage, and purpose in the recently concluded Binibining Bayombong 2026.

Stepping onto the stage was more than a competition—it was a testament to the courage to dream, the humility to learn, and the strength to represent a community with pride. While the journey may have reached its final curtain, the dream does not end here.

Sometimes, a closed chapter is simply a door opening to a new story. May this experience lead you toward greater opportunities, meaningful encounters, and new platforms where you can continue to inspire, serve, and make your voice heard.

Czaisha, you may have carried the name of Barangay Busilac on the stage, but you also carried the pride of the Muir Wolf community with you.

Keep walking with grace. Keep dreaming with courage. And keep becoming the woman you are meant to be.
