ICpEP.SE-SMU Chapter Holds First General Orientation

The Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines Student Edition – Saint Mary’s University Chapter (ICpEP.SE-SMU) gathered around 80 members for its first general orientation last August 20, 2025 at Aula Maria Hall.

The event formally opened with welcome remarks from Engr. Paulina Marzan, Head of the Computer Engineering Department, who highlighted the growing demand for computer engineers in today’s world and encouraged students to persevere in their studies, reminding them that great opportunities await in this field.

The program featured the introduction of faculty and newly appointed officers, an orientation led by Chapter President Shayne Kylie Almario, and updates on organizational activities, including preparations for the upcoming regional convention to be hosted by SMU.

Highlights of the event included an inspirational message from former ICpEP.SE President Neil Turqueza, an intermission performance by the CpE Band, and interactive socialization activities that fostered camaraderie among members.

The orientation concluded with Closing Remarks from Engr. Carina Mallillin, OIC Dean of SEAIT, who encouraged members to embrace excellence and active participation in the organization.

Welcome to SEAIT, Freshies! 🎉

The Computer Engineering freshmen proudly joined the SEAIT Freshmen Orientation with warm greetings from Dr. John Octavious S. Palina, our University President, and a heartfelt message from Engr. Carina S. Malilin, Dean of SEAIT, who also introduced the amazing faculty, staff, and student leaders of SCC and SCEAIT.

Heads of different facilities shared helpful reminders and encouraged everyone to live by the values and practices of Saint Mary’s University.

With the help of their ates and kuyas, the freshies explored the campus and discovered the many facilities waiting to support them. It was a day of new faces, new places, and plenty of excitement, the perfect start to their journey as part of the Marian community!
