Three Marian students paid a courtesy visit to University President Dr. John Octavious S. Palina following their successful five-month international study at Howest University of Applied Sciences, Belgium.

Bringing home valuable academic insights and meaningful cross-cultural experiences, Ms. Jemille Culanag, BSED English 4 and Mr. Zarmin Joshua Espinosa, BSIT 3 completed their mobility under the Erasmus+ Program, while Ms. Sharlene Domingo, BSBA MM 3 also participated in the international study program.

Their enriching academic and cultural experiences further strengthen the University’s internationalization initiatives.

Saint Mary’s University sends two Marian students to participate in the Erasmus+ International Study Program at Howest University of Applied Sciences, Belgium, from February 9 to June 29, 2026.

The grantees are 𝑴𝒔. 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒂 𝑨𝒕𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒂 𝑫𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝑹𝒆𝒚𝒆𝒔, BSBA-Marketing Management 2 and 𝑴𝒓. 𝑲𝒊𝒓𝒃𝒚 𝑨𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒊 𝑳𝒂𝒛𝒂𝒓𝒐, BS Information Technology 2, who are currently undertaking their international studies in Belgium under the Erasmus+ program.

Ms. Reyes will pursue the Global Business Management Program, while Mr. Lazaro will undertake the Applied Computer Science Program. During their five-month international study, they will gain academic enrichment, international exposure, and valuable cross-cultural learning experiences.

Howest University has been an active partner of SMU since 2021, and Ms. Reyes and Mr. Lazaro proudly represent the 4th batch of Erasmus+ grantees from SMU.

We wish them every success as they represent the Marian community on the global stage.

Congratulations to 𝑴𝒔. 𝑲𝒚𝒍𝒍𝒂 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑫𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒂𝒏𝒐, a Third Year BS Psychology student from the School of Teacher Education and Humanities (STEH), for her participation in the 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐇 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: 𝐒𝐃𝐆𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya, Indonesia, held on February 9–20, 2026.

The program immerses students in real-world applications of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through dynamic courses, discussions with key stakeholders, and hands-on community engagement. Participants will also experience Indonesian culture, culinary highlights, and visits to iconic destinations—making the learning journey truly holistic.

This international engagement provides a valuable platform for idea exchange, collaboration on sustainable innovations, and a deeper understanding of the role of technology in community development.

Marian Students Attend Pre-Departure Orientation for Erasmus+ International Study Program 2026

A Pre-Departure Orientation for Marian students selected to participate in the Erasmus+ International Study Program was held today, February 5, 2026, at the Internationalization Office of Saint Mary’s University. The activity brought together Marian students preparing for a five-month international study program at Howest University of Applied Sciences in Belgium.

Participants were Maria Atasha Reyes, a second-year BSBA Marketing Management student, and Kirby Andrei Lazaro, a second-year BS in Information Technology student, who will be in Belgium from February 9 to June 29, 2026. During their stay, they will engage in specialized courses, academic projects, and intercultural exchanges alongside students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

The orientation session guided the students through essential pre-departure requirements, including travel preparations, academic expectations, and program guidelines. A cultural briefing on Belgium was also conducted, highlighting the country’s traditions, values, cuisine, and social etiquette to better equip the students for a meaningful and enriching international experience.

Marian Joins CommTECH Camp Insight 2026 in Indonesia

Congratulations to Mr. Jurojin Cabanilla, a BSBA–Marketing Management 2 student, for participating in the CommTECH Camp Insight 2026 (Stream 1: Technology Innovations) from January 22 to February 2, 2026, in Indonesia. The activity is hosted by Indonesia's Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), an active partner of Saint Mary’s University since 2024.

The program offers immersive workshops, seminars, hands-on activities, and cultural experiences highlighting technological innovation and its role in community development. Several SMU students have already engaged in various ITS academic activities, both on-site and online, strengthening this international partnership.

Project Maalaga is the University’s pioneering enrolment-to-employment international program for Nurses, designed to equip Marian nurses with essential competencies, Dutch language preparation, and global exposure for professional practice abroad.

A Pre-departure Orientation for Marian students selected to participate in the CommTECH Camp Insight 2026 was held on January 19, 2026, at the Internationalization Office of Saint Mary’s University. This activity will bring together students from across the globe to collaborate on technology-driven projects, cultural immersion activities, and leadership development programs. The orientation was attended by Jurojin Cabanilla, a second-year BSBA Marketing Management student, and Kylla Colline C. Dimaano, a third-year BS Psychology student, accompanied by their supportive parents.

During the session, the student participants and their parents were guided through essential pre-departure preparations, including travel requirements and program expectations. They also received a cultural briefing on Indonesia, which highlighted the nation’s rich traditions, values, cuisine, and social etiquette, equipping them for a meaningful immersion experience. In addition, the orientation addressed financial responsibilities, ensuring that both participants and parents were well-informed, prepared, and confident about the journey ahead.
