𝐈𝐂𝐋𝐌𝐒 𝐂𝐘𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐅𝐎𝐗𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐓 𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐄🛡️💻

ICLMS students showcased their cybersecurity skills as part of the selected cyber defense team representing the Army Reserve Command (RESCOM) in the National Finals of a prestigious cybersecurity competition, held online from September 12–13, 2026.

The team, coming from the 203rd Ready Reserve Cyber Defense Company (203CDC) under the 2nd Regional Community Defense Group (2RCDG), was composed of Pvt Zarmin Joshua Espinosa PA (RES), Pvt Cecilio Cesar Liwag Jr PA (RES), Pvt Jasfer Dela Cruz PA (RES), an ICLMS alumnus, Pvt Vhince Pascua PA (RES), and PFC IC Ramzil Ruiz PA (RES).

Hosted by the Philippine Army Signal Regiment, the two-day national competition brought together collegiate teams from across the country in a demanding cybersecurity environment designed to test their technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and adaptability.

Through a Capture-the-King-style digital simulation, participants faced practical challenges involving cryptography, Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT), cloud security, and system pe*******on testing under strict time constraints.

Beyond the competition, their participation provided an opportunity to apply their knowledge and experience beyond the classroom while contributing to the development of future technology professionals and cyber defenders capable of responding to the evolving challenges of the digital landscape.

The ICLMS Department proudly salutes the CyberFoxtrot team for representing Saint Mary’s University, 203CDC, 2RCDG, and the Army Reserve Command on the national cybersecurity stage.

BSIT-4 students 𝗭𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵𝘂𝗮 𝗖. 𝗘𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘀𝗮 and 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝗖. 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝘀, together with their expert, 𝗠𝗿𝘀. 𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹 𝗧. 𝗖𝗮ñ𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹, proudly represented Saint Mary’s University and Region II in the Cyber Security Skill Area of WorldSkills Philippines Clark 2026, held from September 7–11, 2026 in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.

Over the course of the three-day competition proper, they took on a series of cybersecurity tasks that challenged their technical skills, analytical thinking, and ability to respond to real-world security scenarios.

Each day focused on a different area of cybersecurity: Day 1 – Vulnerability Assessment, which focused on identifying weaknesses in virtual machines; Day 2 – Blue Teaming, which involved securing networks and systems through Group Policies, proper configurations, and SSH hardening; and Day 3 – Mini Capture the Flag (CTF), which tested their skills in Digital Network Forensics, network traffic analysis, and uncovering hidden credentials and flags from a provided website.

From the classroom to the national stage, may this experience inspire more Marian IT students to push beyond limits, build their skills, and pursue greater opportunities in the ever-evolving world of technology. 🚀💻

The seminar-workshop “𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁: 𝗔 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿-𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀 (𝗧𝗥𝗟) 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀” has officially concluded! 🎉

Held on August 28, 2026, the event brought together students from BSIT, BSCS, BSECE, and BSCpE for a meaningful day of learning about how capstone and thesis projects can move beyond the classroom and closer to real-world application.

With the guidance of our guest speaker, Mr. Jo Arman Ken N. Quiambao, participants explored the different Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) and learned how to assess and develop their projects with real-world impact in mind. 💡

The learning didn't stop with the discussion! Participants also worked through interactive workbook activities, applying what they learned to their own projects. They then had the opportunity to present and share their outputs, putting their ideas into practice and learning from one another.

A great capstone project doesn't have to end with a final presentation—it can be the beginning of something bigger. May the insights and experiences from this seminar-workshop inspire our students to build, innovate, and turn their ideas into solutions ready for the real world.

To help us bridge the gap between innovation and implementation, we are pleased to welcome our guest speaker, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐨 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐞𝐧 𝐍. 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐨, a BSIT graduate of Saint Mary’s University and co-founder of Onionet. He currently serves as a Project Administrative Assistant II at the Department of Agriculture – Livestock Biotechnology Center, where he works in technology and commercialization, science media communication, and internal system development.

With his experience in design thinking, human-centered design, and technology commercialization, Mr. Quiambao will share valuable insights on taking ideas beyond the bench and toward real-world impact. 💡

On August 22-23, 2026, our representatives proudly competed in the Online Cyber Defense Exercise National Finals. Being organized as a nationwide competition, the event gathered skilled individuals across the country to demonstrate their advanced capabilities and to enhance skill readiness.

In connection with the 43rd anniversary of the Philippine Army Reserve Command's (RESCOM) founding, the national competition was organized and used a Capture the Flag (CTF) platform to test cybersecurity abilities and foster camaraderie among reserve personnel all across the country.

The team representing the unit in the national finals are the following personnel:

On August 22, 2026, the MICRO-JPCS successfully convened the annual General Assembly at the Sacred Heart Center, which brought together students and faculty from the ICLMS Department.

The event gave us a chance to introduce and thank our faculty members for their ongoing support, as well as welcome our new MICRO-JPCS officers into their roles for the school year.

We were also honored to hear from our resource speaker, Mr. Jericho T. Pineda, who delivered an insightful talk on pushing for excellence in our fields.

We extend our sincerest appreciation to all the students, faculty members, and distinguished guests whose attendance made this gathering a resounding success.
