The Center for Continuing Education – CPD of Visayas State University is pleased to invite all licensed agriculturists to participate in a specialized capacity-building program on Farm Management and Finance, scheduled on August 26–28, 2026, via Zoom.

This three-day training session is designed to enhance the technical and financial competencies of agricultural professionals in key areas of farm operations. The following topics will be covered:
• Importance of Farm Records
• Valuation and Depreciation of Farm Assets
• Enterprise Budgeting
• Partial Budgeting
• Farm Business Analysis

The program is accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and offers 4.0 CPD credit units under Accreditation No. PTR-2021-301-2584.

At around 4:20 a.m. today, a fire occurred at Seafront Suites A and B in the VSU Lower Campus.

Initial reports indicate that an explosion was heard prior to the fire. The cause of the incident has not yet been determined and is currently under investigation by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Baybay Emergency Response Unit (BERU), Brgy. Guadalupe Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC), and the VSU Security and Safety Services Office (VSU-SSSO), together with Kabalikat volunteers.

Upon receiving the report, they immediately responded to the scene and carried out the necessary emergency response operations.

There were no occupants or guests at the said facility when the incident occurred. Hence, no individuals were affected and no injuries were reported. The fire was contained within the affected facility, with no damage reported to others.

The fire was managed at around 5:20 a.m. As of this reporting, the situation is under control while the concerned authorities continue their investigation and assessment of the incident.

We encourage everyone to remain calm and refrain from sharing unverified information. Further updates will be released through the official communication channels of the university as they become available.
