🤝𝐕𝐒𝐔–𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐒𝐀 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩

𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 and the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 have officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement under the PhilSA Integrated Network for Space-Enabled Actions Towards Sustainability (𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐒).

Through this partnership, VSU, with the support of the GRID Center, will collaborate with PhilSA in space science and technology applications, including satellite data, geospatial technologies, research, and capacity development.

Looking forward to the exciting opportunities and collaborations that this journey may bring. 🚀🌏

🌍𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝖎𝖓 𝕰𝖆𝖘𝖙𝖊𝖗𝖓 𝖁𝖎𝖘𝖆𝖞𝖆𝖘🛰️

From July 21 to 28, 2026, the Geospatial Research, Innovation and Development (GRID) Center of Visayas State University was honored to host 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐮 𝐊𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐲𝐧 of 𝙑𝙧𝙞𝙟𝙚 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙞𝙩 𝘽𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙡 (VUB), Belgium, for a series of field visits and stakeholder engagements in Baybay City.

The visit forms part of the preparations for the implementation of the 𝙑𝙄𝙑𝘼𝙍²𝙚𝙨 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩, a five-year collaborative initiative set to commence on September 1, 2026. VIVAR²es aims to significantly reduce vulnerability and strengthen disaster resilience through integrated ridge-to-reef and participatory approaches.

The visit featured a courtesy call with the VSU President Prose Ivy G. Yepes & officials, meetings with key administrative offices such as Budget Office, Accounting Office, Finance Office, and University Records Office, as well as visits with VSU research centers.

Another major highlight of the visit was the courtesy call with Baybay City Mayor Jose Carlos L. Cari, followed by site visits to the proposed project areas and a planning workshop with the VIVAR²es project team to discuss project implementation strategies.

The GRID Center looks forward to working closely with VUB and its international and local partners to co-develop science- and evidence-based solutions that reduce vulnerability and strengthen disaster resilience in Eastern Visayas.

📢 CALL FOR APPLICATIONS | 3 PhD SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Visayas State University invites qualified faculty members to apply for three (3) PhD scholarship positions under the VIVAR²es Project: Sustainably Reducing Vulnerability to Multi-Hazards through a Ridge-to-Reef Community Approach in Eastern Visayas.

The selected scholars will undertake doctoral studies through the VSU–Belgium partnership with Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and KU Leuven, including international research and training opportunities.
