DPYSP Batch 2 wrapped up their week with a dynamic Culmination Program where students of Liloan National Technical-Vocational High School presented their Learning Journey Maps, AANR-themed slogans, and research proposal pitches—showcasing what they’ve learned and how their ideas have grown throughout the program.

DPYSP participants continued their learning journey through another meaningful week of hybrid learning sessions that deepened their understanding of the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) sector.
Throughout the week, students reflected on each topic and connected these lessons to real-world challenges—insights that helped them refine and strengthen their chosen research topics for proposal pitching. 💡🔬✨

🌊🌾 WEEK 1 • DAY 5: DPYSP BATCH 2 GOES TO SLSU BONTOC!
Our DOST PCAARRD DPYSP Batch 2 participants hit the road for an exciting learning adventure at SLSU Bontoc!
The day kicked off with an enriching session on the concept of sustainability with Dr. Gladys Pascual, who helped the students understand how sustainable practices shape the future of agriculture and fisheries.
They then got hands-on with an engaging fish deboning activity, giving them a closer look at the skills and processes involved in the agri-fishery sector.
A day full of learning, discovery, and new experiences—definitely a highlight for Week 1!

WEEK 1 • DAY 4: LEARNING & EXPLORING!
Our Batch 2 participants powered through another exciting day at the DOST-PCAARRD Youth Science Program!
The morning began with a deep dive into Fisheries and Aquaculture led by Dr. Asuncion De Guzman, who introduced the students to the importance of sustainable aquatic resources and innovations in fish production.
This was followed by an insightful session on Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) with Mr. Charlindo Torrion, helping the participants understand climate risks and the value of preparedness in safeguarding communities and ecosystems.
In the afternoon, the learning continued with a hands-on tour at the Animal Science Department, where participants explored livestock and poultry facilities and gained a closer look at animal production, management, and research advancements.
Another well-spent day of discovery—connecting environmental awareness, aquatic sciences, and agricultural innovation in one meaningful learning experience!

🥔🌱 WEEK 1 • DAY 3: ROOTCROPS ADVENTURE MODE!
Our Batch 2 participants from Liloan National Technical-Vocational High School (STEM pride!) spent their Wednesday afternoon diving into the amazing world of rootcrops at PhilRootcrops here at VSU!
From cutting-edge laboratories to the vast experimental fields, the students experienced a full walk-through of how science, innovation, and agriculture work hand in hand—covering everything from tissue culture and crop improvement to real-world field production. 🔬➡️🌾
It was the perfect blend of hands-on learning, curious minds, and plenty of “Ooooh, so that’s how it works!” moments. A field tour they won’t soon forget! 🚶♂️🚶♀️✨

🧠✨ WEEK 1 • DAY 3: BRAINPOWER UNLEASHED!
Wednesday’s energy at the DOST-PCAARRD Youth Science Program was all about creativity, curiosity, and big scientific ideas! Our Batch 2 participants from Liloan National Technical-Vocational High School dove into an engaging session on Introduction to Research Proposal Writing with Dr. Christy Miñoza Desades, who equipped them with the essentials of crafting strong, meaningful research.
But the highlight? 🚀
Our young scientists confidently pitched their own research ideas—all aligned with the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) sector! From innovative concepts to passion-driven questions, their ideas showed just how ready they are to contribute to future breakthroughs.
The excitement (and slight nervousness!) in the room was proof that we’re nurturing the next wave of bold Filipino researchers. 🌟🔬

🌿 WEEK 1 • DAY 2 HIGHLIGHTS! | The DOST PCAARRD Youth Science Program continued its momentum with another day of meaningful learning and exploration for our Batch 2 participants from Liloan National Technical-Vocational High School here at Visayas State University.
In the morning, the students engaged in two insightful sessions:
🌳 Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) with Ms. Serica Joy Compendio-Dadios, who introduced the foundational concepts and current challenges in the ENR sector; and
💡 Researchable Areas and Innovation in ENR with Mr. Kit Felian Tenio, who highlighted emerging opportunities, innovations, and future research directions for young scientists.
In the afternoon, the participants visited the VSU Biodiversity Center, where they explored and learned about the rich flora and fauna of the Visayas region, deepening their appreciation for local biodiversity and conservation efforts. 🐦🌱
Another productive day of discovery and inspiration as we continue shaping future leaders in science and innovation! 🔬✨

📍 FIELD EXPOSURE! | To deepen their understanding of local AANR innovations, Batch 2 participants from Liloan National Technical-Vocational High School visited the National Abaca Research Center (NARC) on Monday afternoon, November 17, 2025.
The students explored cutting-edge initiatives on abaca breeding, fiber development, and sustainable production technologies—gaining firsthand insights into how research strengthens one of the Philippines’ most valuable natural fibers.
This immersive tour not only expanded their scientific appreciation but also highlighted the vital role of research institutions in driving innovation for communities and industries. 🍃✨

🌱 DAY 1 KICKOFF! | The DOST PCAARRD Youth Science Program – Visayas Leg officially started its implementation for this year's second batch of participants on Monday, November 17, 2025, welcoming the bright and enthusiastic students from Liloan National Technical-Vocational High School here at Visayas State University!
Our young innovators began their journey with an inspiring Opening Program, followed by an engaging session on Positive Youth Development (PYD) with Ms. Mariane dela Peña that challenged them to recognize their strengths, develop leadership skills, and envision their role in shaping the future of Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR).
