𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛 | 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗻𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝘆 ⚙️💡

Every research proposal represents an idea, a question, and a willingness to contribute to something greater.

The research proposal pitching provided participants with a meaningful platform to communicate their scientific ideas, articulate their proposed approaches, and engage with feedback from experts and fellow researchers. More than a presentation, the experience allowed them to strengthen their research perspectives, refine their ideas, and gain valuable insights that can guide their work moving forward.

Beyond the distinction of reaching the Top 5, however, the experience itself represents an important accomplishment. Every participant who presented a research proposal demonstrated initiative, scientific curiosity, and the capacity to translate emerging ideas into researchable questions.

Their research journey continues—with the aspiration to further develop these ideas and create meaningful contributions through and beyond the program.

𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛 | 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗔𝗡𝗥 💡 💫

Teacher-Chaperones reflect on the growth they witnessed among the DOST Scholars throughout the Development Program for Young Scientists and Professionals (DPYSP)—from gaining confidence and independence to becoming more proactive, responsible, and engaged in their learning.

As the participants return to their respective communities and campuses, the Teacher-Chaperones also share their expectations for how the participants will carry these learnings beyond the program. They are encouraged to translate their experiences into meaningful action and apply their knowledge to better understand and respond to the realities, challenges, and opportunities within the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) sector.

More than an experience, DPYSP serves as a foundation for scholars to bring what they have learned into their communities and contribute to the future of AANR. 🌾🔬

𝗜𝗖𝗬𝗠𝗜 | 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟭 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 (𝗔𝗔𝗡𝗥) 💫

First week, laid a solid foundation for the DPYSP Visayas Leg, immersing our scholars in an interdisciplinary exploration of the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) sector and its vital role in food security, community development, and sustainable growth.

Through expert-led discussions, hands-on activities, and collaborative exchanges, participants explored how youth leadership, crop and soil science, aquatic systems, livestock production, and climate resilience intersect with agribusiness, extension, and student research.

Together, these interconnected pillars demonstrated how Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) serve as the driving force behind a responsive and adaptive sector. Over the five-day experience, the participants showcased exceptional curiosity, initiative, and teamwork—transforming standard learning sessions into a dynamic space for meaningful dialogue, innovation, and real-world problem-solving.

As Week 1 concludes, these young leaders step forward equipped not only with new knowledge, but with a renewed commitment to bridge science with society and drive national priorities in sustainability and inclusive development.

On the 15th day of immersion, participants took the spotlight during the DPYSP Culmination and Research Proposal Pitching, where they presented their proposed research projects before a panel of experts and fellow participants.

The session aimed to strengthen participants’ research presentation, communication, and critical-thinking skills by providing a platform to effectively pitch their research proposals and receive valuable feedback. Through this activity, participants demonstrated the significance of their proposed studies, highlighted the current realities, emerging challenges, and developments within the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) sector, and shared innovative, evidence-informed approaches that can contribute to sustainable and inclusive development.

More than a culminating activity, the research pitching showcased the participants’ growth as aspiring researchers and science communicators. By articulating their ideas with clarity, confidence, and purpose, they took a meaningful step toward developing research that addresses real-world challenges and supports the advancement of a more resilient and sustainable AANR sector.

Through engaging discussions, participants gained valuable insights into understanding diverse community needs, promoting gender equality, and designing inclusive, people-centered approaches that strengthen resilience and contribute to sustainable AANR development.

Driven by a strong commitment to sustainable development in the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) sector, the Day 14 session focused on the importance of inclusivity and creating safe, supportive spaces for engagement. The discussion highlighted how such environments empower young people to confidently lead conservation efforts and advocate for gender equality without fear of discrimination. By exploring ways to dismantle the systemic barriers that limit individual contributions, the session underscored the importance of placing diverse young voices at the forefront of driving impactful AANR innovations and solutions.

Recognizing the value of diverse perspectives fosters a shared sense of collective responsibility, ensuring that everyone—regardless of gender or background—can meaningfully participate in protecting and advancing our natural resources.

Every successful environmental initiative begins with a foundation of vision, perseverance, and continuous progress. On Day 13, through focused coaching and team-based drafting workshops, participants enhanced their outputs while developing the knowledge and confidence needed to unlock their potential, strengthen resource management, and contribute to the protection of ecosystems across the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) sector.

The testimonials represented more than stories of success; they demonstrated that proper guidance helps shape the future of our ecosystems and food systems. More importantly, the session sparked self-confidence, provided professional direction, and cultivated the forward-thinking mindset needed to drive the sector forward.
