On August 22, student leaders from the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental ScienceโSupreme Student Council joined fellow student leaders from various FSSCs, organizations, and the USSCs across VSU campuses for the annual Student Leadership Summit at the VSU RDE Hall.
The morning sessions focused on the Guidelines on the Establishment and Operations of Student Organizations, proper documentation and secretariat work, and the Anti-Hazing Actโequipping leaders with the knowledge to responsibly handle their organizations.
In the afternoon, the conversation shifted toward the leaders themselves through โLeading Without Burning Out,โ highlighting the importance of well-being alongside leadership. Sessions on disaster risk planning and financial management also reminded student leaders of the responsibility that comes with serving others.
More than just a leadership training, the summit served as a reminder that effective leadership also means knowing when to pause, take care of oneself, and lead with purpose.

Dear Students, Parents, and Members of the VSU Community,
The VSU Forestry Student Society sincerely apologizes for the inclusion and public posting of a studentโs personal statement in our recent โWhy Forestry?โ post on our official page.
We acknowledge that, while the statement was submitted with the intention of sharing a studentโs personal experience, publishing it publicly without sufficiently considering its possible implications was an oversight on our part. We recognize that the statement may have been misunderstood or may have caused discomfort, concern, or unintended consequences for the student involved.
We deeply regret that our post may have placed the student in an uncomfortable situation. As a student organization, we understand our responsibility to protect the dignity, privacy, and well-being of the students whose experiences and voices we feature.
We have taken the necessary steps to address the matter and will be more careful in reviewing and handling student-submitted content moving forward. We will also strengthen our consideration of consent, context, and potential impact before publishing similar materials on our platforms.
We sincerely apologize to the student concerned, their family, and everyone who may have been affected by the post. We are grateful for the feedback and concerns raised, as these serve as an important reminder of our responsibility as an organization.
Thank you for your understanding.

๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐! ๐โจ
Last Monday, August 10, our fresh batch of FFESties officially took their first steps into the Viscan life!
The morning kicked off with an orientation on what it means to be a true Viscan. By afternoon, the oval was filled with laughter, smiles, and the classic โ๐พ๐๐๐โ๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐?โ being asked numerous times as freshies got to know each other through group dynamics and icebreaker games.
Next stop: ๐๐๐ ๐ฃ๐จ๐ฆ ๐ง๐ข๐จ๐ฅ! ๐บ๏ธ ๐ธ From iconic landmarks and spontaneous photo ops to little pieces of VSU history, our freshies explored their new home one stop at a time. And because every adventure needs a dramatic ending, the day wrapped up with the sea breeze, salty air, and โจmain character momentsโจ at the VSU Beach. ๐

Behind every student council that strives to serve with purpose are mentors who guide, challenge, and help shape its direction.
With sincere gratitude, the FFES-SSC extends its appreciation to our advisers for their unwavering guidance, patience, and support throughout the term.
Thank you for being more than advisers. You have been mentors who shared your knowledge, offered direction when challenges arose, and reminded us of the responsibility that comes with serving the FFES community.
Your guidance has helped strengthen not only the work of the council, but also the students and leaders who continue to contribute to the growth and progress of the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Science.
Every piece of advice, every correction, every encouragement, and every reminder to do better has become part of the learning and leadership that we carry forward.
As leadership transitions and another chapter begins, your role in shaping a culture of responsible and meaningful student service remains part of the FFES legacy.
Thank you for guiding us. Thank you for believing in student leadership. Thank you for helping us move FFES forward. ๐ฑ

As the FFES-SSC turns the page on another chapter of student leadership, we pause to recognize and express our deepest gratitude to the outgoing officers who dedicated their time, effort, and hearts to serving the students of the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Science.
Your term was more than a collection of programs, projects, meetings, and responsibilities. It was a chapter defined by service, commitment, collaboration, and the willingness to show up for the students you represented.
To our outgoing FFES-SSC Officers, thank you for carrying the responsibility of leadership and for giving your time in service of the FFES community. Through every challenge and accomplishment, you became part of the continuing story of student leadership in the Faculty and beyond.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the respective committees and their members who worked alongside the officers. To every committee chairperson, member, volunteer, and working team who contributed behind the scenes, thank you. Every plan prepared, document completed, activity facilitated, concern addressed, and task accomplished helped turn the council's vision into meaningful action.
Your contributions may not always have been seen, but they were certainly felt.
To the committees who handled student welfare, communications, events, finance, documentation, environment, academic concerns, external affairs, and other areas of service, thank you for giving your skills and time to something greater than yourselves. The work of a council is never carried by its officers alone. It is strengthened by the people who willingly stand beside them.
To everyone who supported the council throughout the term, including students, faculty members, advisers, partners, volunteers, and the entire FFES community, thank you for being part of this journey.
As one leadership chapter comes to a close, we celebrate not only what was accomplished, but the people who made those accomplishments possible.
The positions may change. The names on the council may change. But the spirit of service remains.
To the outgoing FFES-SSC Officers and every committee that served with them, thank you for your service, your dedication, and the legacy you leave behind.
May what you have contributed to FFES continue to inspire those who come after you.
Your term may end, but your service will always be part of the FFES story. ๐ฑ

The incoming Executive Officers of the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Science Supreme Student Council (FFES SSC) โ Baybay proudly joined over 200 student leaders from across the Visayas State University (VSU) campuses in the Student Leadership Congress (SLC) 2026, held on August 3โ4 at the RDE Hall.
Anchored on the theme, "Lead with Purpose. Govern with Integrity. Serve for Sustainability," the two-day congress aims to strengthen the leadership, governance, and service capabilities of incoming student leaders as they prepare to serve their respective student communities in the upcoming academic year.
The congress features insightful panel discussions led by distinguished resource speakers, alongside interactive team-building activities that foster collaboration, ethical leadership, and sustainable student governance.
As the incoming FFES SSC Baybay Executive Officers participate in this transformative experience, they reaffirm their commitment to leading with purpose, governing with integrity, and serving the FFES community and beyond with excellence, accountability, and sustainability.
