Today marks not only a global observance, but a renewed commitment to environmental leadership and responsibility. Conservation is no longer optionalโ€”it is an obligation we owe to future generations.

From forests to farms, our actions shape the resilience of our ecosystems and the sustainability of our resources. Protecting biodiversity, restoring degraded landscapes, and promoting responsible stewardship must remain at the forefront of our collective efforts.

The decisions we make today will define the landscapes of tomorrow. Let us act with purpose, lead with integrity, and sustain the Earth with unwavering commitment.

The Forestry and Environmental Science Supreme Student Council (FFES-SSC) of VSU Alang-Alang and VSU Baybay successfully mounted FFES PASUNDAYAG 2026 on April 16 at the VSU Alang-Alang Campus Gym, delivering not only a vibrant celebration but also a series of intellectually engaging and environmentally driven activities.

Among the highlights were the simultaneous conduct of Environment4lino (Environmentalino Quiz Bee) and the Poster-Making Contest, both reinforcing the organizationโ€™s commitment to environmental education, creativity, and student engagement.

Dubbed โ€œBrainy & Green: The Environment4lino Face-Off,โ€ the Environmentalino Quiz Bee gathered some of the brightest student representatives from both campuses in a spirited competition centered on environmental knowledge and awareness. The program opened with an inspiring message from For. Karen Paรฑa, FFES External Adviser, who encouraged participants to take on purposeful roles in advancing environmental stewardship. The competition was led by Quiz Master For. Whyz Calimbayan, while Jholina Notarte, Head of Environmentalino, presented the official guidelines to ensure fairness and order.

The venue was filled with anticipation and energy as teams battled through three competitive rounds. In the end, the following teams emerged victorious:
1st Runner-up: 2B Sustainable (VSU Alang-Alang)
2nd Runner-up: Banay Tinubdan (VSU Baybay)
3rd Runner-up: Team Powerpuff Girls (VSU Alang-Alang)
4th Runner-up: Banay Kalasangan (VSU Baybay)
5th Runner-up: Pyroclastic (VSU Alang-Alang)

Running alongside the quiz bee, the Poster-Making Contest provided a creative avenue for students to visually express their environmental advocacies. Participants translated pressing ecological themes into compelling artworks, demonstrating that environmental awareness can be powerfully communicated through art.

Together, these activities showcased the balance of intellect and creativity within the FFES community. Organizers emphasized that the success of the simultaneous events was driven by strong collaboration, meticulous planning, and the active participation of students and faculty from both campuses.

As the day concluded, participants and organizers alike shared a sense of fulfillmentโ€”marked by enthusiastic engagement, strengthened connections, and a renewed commitment to environmental responsibility.

FFES PASUNDAYAG 2026 stands as a testament to what a united academic community can achieveโ€”where knowledge meets creativity, and passion drives impact.

ALANG-ALANG, LEYTE โ€” The Forestry and Environmental Science Supreme Student Council (FFES-SSC) of VSU Baybay and VSU Alang-Alang came together on April 16, 2026, for the โ€œPasundayag: Call of Action,โ€ a unifying event that reinforced collaboration, leadership, and shared environmental responsibility under the spirit of Dagyaw.

The program opened with a warm welcome from the Dean of VSU Alang-Alang, extending hospitality to delegates from VSU Baybay and setting a tone of unity and cooperation. Hon. Emerson Tubio, Vice President of FFES-SSC Baybay, then presented the guidelines for the Environmentalino Quiz Bee and Poster-Making Contest, while also introducing the candidates for Ginoo at Mutya 2026, adding excitement to the dayโ€™s activities.

In an effort to strengthen camaraderie, FFES-SSC Alang-Alang facilitated interactive games that fostered connection and engagement among students from both campuses. This was followed by a reflective segment where leaders and students shared their personal purpose. For. Karen Paรฑa and Sir Kit Felian delivered inspirational messages, followed by student representatives from both VSU Alang-Alang and VSU Baybay who shared their motivations for pursuing Environmental Scienceโ€”each story echoing a common commitment to environmental stewardship and service.

The defining moment of the event was the Official Signing of the Call of Action, symbolizing a strengthened partnership between the two campuses. Hon. Samuel Gata of FFES-SSC Baybay and Hon. Trisha Faye Badillo of FFES-SSC Alang-Alang formally signed the document, sealing a commitment to collaboration, mutual support, and sustained joint initiatives.

The program concluded with closing remarks from Hon. Samuel Jr. Gata, marking the successful culmination of a meaningful gathering rooted in unity, purpose, and shared vision.

From appreciation to actionโ€”Lakad Kalikasan 2.0 brought the Viscan community together in a shared commitment to protect and celebrate the rich biodiversity of Mt. Pangasugan.

With the guidance of Forester Ethan Hernandez, a seasoned forester and content creator, participants experienced more than just a walkโ€”it was a meaningful journey into understanding the beauty and importance of our flora and fauna. His insights challenged us to move beyond admiration and take part in consistent, collective action for the environment.

Students, alumni, faculty, and staff of FFES, alongside participants from various programs, united as one communityโ€”proving that care for nature is strongest when shared.

More than a trail, it was a living reminder: our forests are not just to be seen, but to be protected.

Last April 18, 2026, the Department of Forest Science AVR became the starting ground of something more than just an eventโ€”it became a movement. Lakad Kalikasan 2.0 brought together FFES students, alumni, graduate students, and participants from different programs, all united by one shared mission: to protect and preserve our natural resources and environment.

The day opened with inspiring words from FFES Internal Adviser, For. Christian Chad Wales, set a purposeful and empowering tone for what was ahead. We were also honored to have Forester Jonathan "Ethan Hernandez" from UP Los Baรฑosโ€”an environmental advocate and content creatorโ€”who delivered a thought-provoking lecture, reminding us that impact is not only about quality, but also about consistency and quantity in our actions for nature.

More than just a trek, the journey from Banakon Drive to Molave Hills became a living classroom. Every step told a storyโ€”of trees, ecosystems, and the vital role we play in sustaining them. It was a powerful reminder that learning doesnโ€™t only happen within four walls, but in the very environment we strive to protect.

The event concluded with heartfelt closing remarks from FFES President, Hon. Sam Gata, leaving participants inspired, empowered, and with a renewed commitment to serve as stewards of the environment.

To everyone who walked, learned, and grew with usโ€”this is only the beginning. ๐ŸŒฑ

Padayon. Alang sa kinaiyahan.
