𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒂𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔 𝑰𝒕𝒔 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝑨𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒂𝒓𝒚

With the theme “𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐹𝑖𝑟𝑠𝑡 𝐵𝑦𝑡𝑒: 𝐶𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑏𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑆𝑦𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑔𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐼𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑣𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛,” the Faculty of Computing of Visayas State University proudly celebrated its First Anniversary on February 24, 2026, at the RDE Hall, highlighted by the successful conduct of the 2nd Research Colloquium.

The celebration commenced with a spirited parade featuring the three departments under the Faculty of Computing: the 𝐷𝑒𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝐶𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑢𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝑆𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑇𝑒𝑐ℎ𝑛𝑜𝑙𝑜𝑔𝑦 – VSU Main, the 𝐷𝑒𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝐼𝑛𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑇𝑒𝑐ℎ𝑛𝑜𝑙𝑜𝑔𝑦 – VSU Isabel, and the 𝐷𝑒𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝐼𝑛𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑇𝑒𝑐ℎ𝑛𝑜𝑙𝑜𝑔𝑦 – VSU Alangalang.
Faculty members, students, and administrators gathered in unity, symbolizing collaboration and academic excellence.

The morning session featured inspiring messages from university officials, followed by an insightful keynote address delivered by by 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐳𝐚, a well-cited IT Professor VI from Leyte Normal University, who emphasized the role of innovation and research in shaping the future of computing. The program was further enriched by an engaging industry talk from 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐡𝐮𝐚 𝐕. 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚, IT Head of CPRAS (The Cost and Procurement Advisory Services), who shared practical insights on emerging industry trends, technological advancements, and pathways for professional growth in the computing field.

In the afternoon, faculty and student researchers showcased their studies during the paper presentation sessions, demonstrating the Faculty’s strong research culture, innovation, and commitment to knowledge advancement.

The event concluded with a guided tour around the VSU Main Campus, fostering camaraderie and strengthening institutional pride among participants.

As the Faculty of Computing marks its first milestone year, this celebration stands as a testament to its growing synergy, innovation, and dedication to academic excellence.

The Faculty of Computing proudly celebrates a significant academic milestone as 𝐌𝐫. 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐲𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐦 and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐳 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐱 𝐓𝐮𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐤, students of Computer Science and Technology, were formally recognized during the 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑰𝑪𝑻 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒚 𝑪𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑬𝒙𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒔 held on March 2, 2026, at the Department of Information and Communications Technology Regional Office 8. Their recognition highlights their successful compliance with the standards of the ICT Proficiency Certification Examination.

Both awardees demonstrated outstanding technical competence and commitment to excellence, reflecting the quality of training and academic preparation provided by the Faculty of Computing at Visayas State University. This achievement marks a meaningful personal milestone while bringing pride and distinction to the institution, affirming their readiness to contribute to the ever-evolving field of Information and Communications Technology.
